America in Reversal

America has done a reversal and has become locked in a battle between right and wrong and is leaning far left in many of its decisions. It has grown in apathy, or indifference, towards maintaining the integrity of its ancestry. It has become as Esau who sold his birthright for one morsel of meat. The Book of Obadiah reveals that the house of Esau would be as stubble, and there shall not be any remaining: for the Lord has spoken it (Obadiah 18).

The Brightly Lit Candle Has Diminished Its Flame

Many in America have become lighthearted, or carefree, in their acceptance of the previously unacceptable. The brightly lit candle has diminished its flame as the balance of a scale that could go one way or the other, depending on the amount of weigh applied to either side. The morals of our land have become as a slide in a playground that has become bright and shiny through much use as one races towards the end of such a short ride. Few are adhering to the morals of yesteryear and we are seeing those morals systematically stripped away one by one.
Riding the Waves of Pleasure for a Season
The word "reveling" is defined as taking great pleasure or delight, to engage in uproarious festivities. When devastation was unleashed on the city of New Orleans the word "reveling" came to mind. On another occasion when a well-known ministry folded, never to rise again, a scripture came to mind that could have readily applied to that ministry, it is found in the Book of Amos: Forasmuch as your treading is upon the poor, and you take from him burdens of wheat: you have built houses of hewn stone, but you have not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink wine of them. One may seek to ride the waves of pleasure for a season but in the end there is a price to pay.
Polluted by its Own Defilement
Has America done a reversal? Has it deviated from its former stand as "one nation under God?" It is now becoming polluted by its own defilement of God's Word? Has it become as a door with a rusty hinge which groans in usage because care to guard its original purpose was put on hold? Its image and preservation before had allowed it to function well until neglect in its maintenance became an issue. Now even our national heritage is being threatened by the influx of those who wish to change the American way to their own heritage. There are those who have become as a grappling hook attempting to hold on to what they know to be right while the political realities of our time make it difficult to do so.
Is the Pendulum Swinging In Favor of Unjust Rulings
I believe many are attempting to right the wrongs that have been committed. There is leverage being applied to offset the evils of our day but the pendulum is swinging in favor of unjust rulings and influences. Does one waltz to the tune of the unbelieving world or the Word of God? Has America in its reversal received God's attention? Are we seeing havoc in our land because of the misguided and acceptance of that guidance?
Has America's Airways Been Polluted?
Immorality and filth have polluted America's airways and are entertaining the people of the land with little conviction towards doing away with such an affront to the religious heritage this great nation once enjoyed. Is the pendulum swinging in favor of the evil that has infiltrated because the populace is allowing it to be so? Is it as the mule that stubbornly refuses to budge until it is good and ready?
What will it take for America to do a reversal towards the betterment of the land once again, that of "one nation under God?" Will it take eye-opening judgmental strokes from on high or will the populace say enough is enough and desire a change by standing for the truths of God's Word? One man of God crying out, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown," turned that great city of three days journey around starting with the greatest of them even to the least of them (Jonah 3:4-5). What will it take for America to do the same?
Love America! But Love Her Wisely
An unknown author wrote: Love America! But love her wisely. Work hard to cure the faults under which she labors. Work to bring her closer to the ideal that is the real America. Do not leave her to be ruled by a few who make it their business and profit to rule. She is yours.
The Things That Will Destroy Us
Another unknown author wrote of the things which will destroy us: politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; and worship without sacrifice.

Breaking Up Fallow Ground
When one cultivates a piece of land it is to improve and prepare the land, as by plowing, or fertilizing, for raising crops and to promote growth. America needs to do as revealed in the Book of Hosea, to sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness on you. For some had plowed wickedness, and reaped iniquity; and eaten the fruit of lies: because of trusting in their own way. Therefore a tumult will arise among the people, and all their fortresses would be spoiled, because of their great wickedness (Hosea 10:12-15). The prophet of God was seeking to warn the people but if that warning went unheeded then destruction would fall on them. What will take for America to do a reversal?
