CAPTIVITY OF THE SOUL

INTRODUCTION

Captivity of the soul is a reminder that one needs to be careful as to what is allowed to enter into one's mind that would captivate one's soul.

I have on my Website a webpage entitled: "Puppet Christian."  A puppet Christian is one whose actions are controlled or influenced by another.  One of such a category will simply flow with a wind of change rather than stand for the truths of God's Word.

CAPTIVITY OF THE SOUL
EGO OF MAN

The term "soul" is commonly used in the Bible to designate the non-material ego of man and his relationship with earthly and physical things; the immortal part of man.

The soul of America is in the grassroots of its origin and its spiritual heritage.  America is faced with a seemingly insurmountable frontal attack on its godly heritage.  The "Soul of America" is being ripped apart as ungodliness flourishes in the land.

DEPRAVITY EXPOSED

God's Word tells the story of Amos, one of the oldest of the prophets, who was the first to predict the downfall of Israel (Amos 5:27).  He revealed the depravity of Israel.  He called sin for what it is.  He had only contempt for the forms of religion which did not work on one's conscience or change one's life.

BELIEVABILITY OF THE UNGODLY

It is obviously not popular to stand in opposition to the sinful nature of man.   The persuasion of the soul is very much in evidence; not godly persuasion, but ungodly (Galatians 5:8).

The influence of the ungodly has vastly increased in the hour in which we live; greatly enhancing the captivity of the soul towards ungodliness rather than a life in Christ as one's redeemer.  The web of deception continues to spread, as man continues to abide in darkness, rather than the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ.

RESTORATION

Amos, in speaking the words of the Lord,  foretold the future restoration of Israel:  "In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and repair its damage; and build it as in the days of old (Amos 9:11).  I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled out of their land which I have given them" (Amos 9:15).

Israel of today stands as a beacon of God's promise; through there have been many attempts, since its statehood in 1948, to offset the words of the prophet Amos.

GOD'S SOVEREIGN POWER

Scripture reveals that we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has before prepared that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10).  What an inspiration to God's sovereign power in the life of a believer!

Scripture encourages the believer to build up yourselves on your most holy faith.  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 1:20-21).  Another glorious inspiration towards the one who is able to keep us unto His heavenly kingdom.
