Sweet Deliverance

Sweet Deliverance is needful in the hour in which we live. Many are in bondage, enslaved, or caught up in things that within themselves they are incapable of escape. Scripture speaks of those who need deliverance from the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will (2 Timothy 2:26). Snare is anything serving to entrap or entangle unawares, often through deception.

Deliverance can come in the form of salvation, if one does not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Deliverance entails liberation, the act of delivering or freeing from restraint, captivity, that of being rescued. Scripture reveals: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:16-21).

To those who will receive, this scripture is still being fulfilled today. Sweet deliverance is wonderful to the recipient. When that which one had been enslaved to no longer is a factor, and one knows whom their deliverer is, gratitude and rejoicing plays into focus.

Deliverance Just One Step Away

The Psalmist David knew to whom he could turn to in times of need and wrote it down for others to draw from as a source of strength in time of need. He revealed in the 27th Psalm: The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? This psalm, as well as others, expressed faith in God's ability to deliver.

In the 30th Psalm David wrote: O Lord my God, I cried to you, and you healed me. The 34th Psalm: I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all. The 103rd Psalm: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgives all our iniquities, who heals all our diseases. The 118th Psalm: It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Age of Miracles

We live in the age of miracles. Scripture tells of a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better. When she heard of Jesus, she came pressing into the crowd, and touched his garment. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of that afflication (Mark 5:25-34).

Allow your faith to reach out, as the woman with the issue of blood, who was determined to touch Jesus, to receive deliverance from her affliction. That day was her day, that day relief came, no more awaking to a continuing problem, no more tears shed to what seemed an impossible condition.

This could be your day; this could be your moment, your hour of deliverance from your greatest need, through faith reaching out. Dwight L. Moody, a great evangelist said: faith moves first, then God moves in answer to faith. If you have not received Jesus into your heart, the forgiveness of your sins, seek the miracle of salvation first, then press through, obtain the promises of God's Word, to see what appears as an insurmountable wall, moved through Jesus' name.
