There is a great expectation by many in regards to the outcome of a national election; whether it be in America, or some other nation.  Many pin their hopes on a particular candidate in hope that they will further a particular agenda that is dear to their heart; or that the candidate  would be better for the country.

Obviously, there has to be both a winner and loser with great distain on the part of those who had sided with the loser.  However, there is great rejoicing to those who are on the side of the winner; with a hope towards the future.

If one's hope is penned on man they may be disappointed.  There are many promises made as one sets out to be a winner; oftentimes to gain votes.  It is sort of like a dating period prior to marriage.  Oftentimes, one's true traits and attitudes do not surface while attempting to impress a desired mate; only later when marriage becomes a reality.

Scripture reveals that hope and faith work hand in hand:  "Faith is the realization of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).  Faith provides substance towards seeking that which is hoped for.  It first involves hope; with realities that are not yet seen.

Scripture speaks of those who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises; while others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection.  Others being destitute, afflicted, tormented; obtained a good testimony through faith (Hebrews 11:33-40).

An unknown author wrote these words:  "If I can endure for this minute whatever is happening to me, no matter how heavy my heart is or how dark the moment may be.  If I can remain calm and quiet with my entire world crashing about me secure in the knowledge God loves me.

If I can keep on believing what I know in my heart to be true that darkness will fade with the morning and that this will pass away too; then nothing in life can defeat me.  For as long as this knowledge remains I can suffer whatever is happening, for I know God will break all chains that are binding me tight in the darkness trying to fill me with fear.

For there is no night, without dawning, and I know that my morning is near."  It is with a great expectation of knowing God's tremendous love, and delivering power, that the author was able to write these words of hope and faith!

Scripture reveals:  The Lord will be the hope of his people (Joel 3:16).  Love the Lord, all you his saints: for the Lord preserves the faithful.  Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your hearts, all you that hope in the Lord (Psalm 31:23-24).

The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear (or reverence) him, upon them that hope in his mercy (Psalm 33:18).  Hope comes with a great expectation of obtaining; that what is attainable, if grounded on the Word of God with faith reaching out!

Scripture tells of those having not received the promises, having seen them far off, were assured of them, and embraced them, confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.  They declare plainly that they seek a country (or homeland).

If they had been mindful of that country from where they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.  But now they desire a better country, that is a heavenly (Hebrews 11:13-16).  A great expectation towards the promises of God had been endeared to their heart; giving them a greater hope, than previously obtainable!
