Jesus is Coming!
Jesus is coming should be an expression that creates expectation and excitement. There are signs today that would indicate Jesus' imminent return as the fulfillment of scripture takes place: For there shall be upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth, and when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.
Our Lord said of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Yet as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief would have come, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore be you also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes (Matthew 24:36-44). One should live in expectation of the Lord's imminent return!
Scripture Being Fulfilled
We are seeing events transpire right before our eyes that a few short years ago we would have not thought possible. The potential of a nuclear holocaust has never been closer. Immorality is blossoming forth as never before. The ungodly are flaunting their wares with no shame. Scripture reveals that perilous times shall come in the last days (2 Timothy 3:1-13), that evil men shall grow worse and worse.
In the mist of it all, scripture reveals that the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and to be ever with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). We are comfort one another with these words. The imminent return of our Lord is established fact by the written Word of God.
Eternal Hope of the Believer
The eternal purpose of God to gather a holy, devoted people will have been accomplished. The one who overcomes is he that has genuine, saving, and preserving faith. God, through His Son, has made an eternal commitment towards the believer.
If an individual, widely acclaimed, and highly honored, were to come, many would make ever effort to be there to honor that person. They would look forward to such a meeting with great expectation, and excitement, and could hardly wait for that time to come. How much more should our expection be of Jesus' coming? The one, who died for our sins, was put in the grave, rose on the third day, seen of many, and then ascended to be with His Father in heaven.
Heaven is the eternal hope of the saved. The glories of heaven belong only to those who have trusted Jesus for their salvation. He is preparing for us a place, that where He is we may be also (John 14:3)!
