A kindled spirit is one which will attempt to inflame, provoke, or excite to action. This type of spirit is growing in America; and elsewhere. Such a critical spirit attempts to excite action towards a given situation; surrounded by others who jump on the bandwagon of discontentment.
The apostle Peter spoke of those who would bring in destructive heresies: "Many shall follow their destructive ways by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And with deceptive words make merchandise of you" (2 Peter 2:1-3).
Those of a critical spirit are so wrapped in their own bitterness that they cannot see any room for unity; even on common ground. They have made a resolve to be in opposition, towards any agenda set forth.
Scripture reveals that such are as coals to burning coals, and wood to fire; contentious to kindle strife (Proverbs 26:21). They do nothing but add fuel to a fire that has already been started. They help spread the flame of contention with no inclination towards a unified spirit of cooperation.
There are many organizations established, using social media, to mount protests and sit-ins; adding fuel to the flame of dissension. The apostle Peter spoke of those who are presumptuous, self-willed, not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries. They speak evil of the things they understand not (2 Peter 2:10-12).
A kindled spirit has no respect for the office held; they attempt to discredit all who oppose their agenda. They bring railing accusations, whether proof exists or not, against public officials who oppose their agenda.
Scripture reveals: The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: the tongue is so set, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of existence; and it is set on fire of hell (James 3:6).
Every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed of mankind: but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison (James 3:7-9). This emphasizes that man can control every lesser creature, but one no one can control his own tongue.
We are seeing a critical spirit abound that is attempting to do just that. There is an attempt, by some of such a spirit, to distinguish any words that would promote the righteousness of God; and hamper an unrighteous cause. Their use of the tongue is not towards edifying; but of a destructive nature, to enhance acceptance of their ungodly ways.
There is an ongoing battle between good and evil in many lands today; with America in the forefront, with a kindled spirit, that is rapidly accepting the ungodliness of man and helping ignite, and inflame others towards acceptance.
Many nations have allowed ungodliness to flourish. As one sees the sinfulness of man, one has to realize that the all seeing eye of God also takes notice. Scripture verifies this in saying: The Lord looks from heaven; he beholds all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looks upon the inhabitants of the earth. He considers all their works (Psalm 33:13-15).
Barriers of discontentment need to be dropped; with a "Coming Together" for the good of the country! A kindled spirit has to have someone fueling the flame of dissension; otherwise it would distinguish itself through lack of fuel.
If there is no one to inflame, to incite to action, or to kindle anger towards a given situation; one would certainty see a more peaceful co-existence. Scripture reveals: How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity (Psalm 133:1). Unity solidifies rather than divides.
God is a merciful God and there is a blessedness in forgiveness to a repentant heart. Scripture reveals: Blessed (or happy) is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sins is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not charge iniquity, and in whose spirit is no deceit (Psalm 32:1-2).
Scripture speaks of a new heavens and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness (2 Peter 3:12). In such a setting there will not be a need to warn of a kindled spirit that promotes unrighteousness; because such will no longer exist. In our present day setting let not a kindled spirit incite one to walk away from the truths of God's Word!
Allowance for sin is opening a door for the presence, and acceptance, of sinful behavior. Rather than expose the truth of God's Word that condemns sin; tolerance is weighed in.
