Powerful influence to deceive exists today as that of the serpent in the Garden of Eden who enhanced, unto Eve, a desire to partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The serpent made the fruit of the tree inviting; good for food, pleasant to the eyes, and to be desired of, despite God's command to Adam and Eve to not eat of it; nor even touch it (Genesis 3:3).

Powerful influence to deceive flourishes in the world today.  There are those who stand for the truths of God's Word; attempt to see a return of the godly nature which previously existed, but an onrush of evilness captivating the land makes such a stance look like little David facing the giant Goliath.

There are many in the world today who are bearing the fruit of corruptness; and unless identified, will continue to spread their filth and degradation.  There are many being deceived by such activity today.

The apostle Paul addressed the state of a fellow worker who had forsaken the right way, having loved this present world (2 Timothy 4:10).  Many today; who once stood for the truths of God's Word, are being deceived into acceptance of the corruptness of man.

There is a war being waged today between the forces of good and evil.  There are ungodly traits being put forth and that are being readily consumed.  A powerful deception is in the mill; due to lack of any godly influence in many lives.

We are seeing ungodly influences manifested that far exceed Sodom and Gomorrah which God destroyed as an example to those who afterward should live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6).  We seeing unrighteousness being presented to a world that has come to accept such as being norm.

Scripture reveals that Lot was oppressed with the filthy conduct of the wicked: for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, tormented his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds (2 Peter 2:7-8).  Lot was so intrigued with some aspect of Sodom that he lingered when destruction was forthcoming.  What powerful influence would hold one captive (2 Timothy 2:26)?

In America there is a influence to deceive in the political arena.  It is hard to know who is telling the truth or attempting to deceive.  The media is often bias in their reporting.  The social media is unreliable.  There is division and mistrust with a lack of coming together for the good of the country.

There is a powerful influence to deceive towards the sanctity of life.  A Sunday school commentary noted:  "The loss of regard for the sacredness of human life is a dangerous path to travel.  Many today embrace the "culture of death" for convenience - abortion on demand, euthanasia, and suicide.  When human life is not treated as a sacred gift from God, life itself ceases to have any meaning or purpose.

Powerful influence to deceive will always be in the world; as ungodly influences remain.  However, one does not have to be so captivated by such; that they become enslaved!  Scripture reveals that God always gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Therefore, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).
