A Puppet Christian is one whose actions is controlled or influenced by another. We are living in a world that dictates the moral habits of others and many whose behavior is the direct result of the influence of others. In such a setting one's strings are pulled this way or that to control one's movements to the glee of the puppeteer. Scripture reveals that to whom you yield (or present) yourselves servants to obey, his servants (or slaves) you are to whom you obey (Romans 6:16).
How many have become a slave to what is contrary to God's Word? There is much that has captured the attention of many; with little effort, to rid oneself from its clutches. Such has become an idol to many, as it has become the center of one's life.
When Israel's leader, Moses, departed from his people to go up to the Mount of God the people soon returned to their Egyptian pagan influence by preparing a golden calf to worship. Because the leadership of the church no longer ministers the wholeness of God's Word, as it once did, congregations are more easily influenced towards the ways of the world, rather than God's unadulterated (or pure) Word, allowing others to pull the strings.
Where is the godly leadership today to encourage one to abstain from the influences that are being promoted? Our Lord asked: "Can the blind lead the blind?" Shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master (or teacher): but every one that is perfect (or trained) shall be as his master" (Luke 6:39-40). Who is in leadership today; is it the world and its influences, or that of God's Word?
In the days of Moses, during the rebellion of the people, there were those who sought to misguide God's people. Who is at the helm today? Does one view good moral programming or does it promote the very thing God's Word opposes? Does one continue to listen to profanity, view immoral behavior; unable to rid one's self of its influence, becoming what is classified as a Puppet Christian?
How can God bless a people, or a nation, that is not in obedience to His Word? Moses was not allowed to enter into the Promised Land because of one act of disobedience. God no longer blessed Israel when sin came in the midst of the camp, but after that sin was dealt with then God's blessings begin to flow once again. Many once godly nations have allowed themselves to be ruled by puppeteers, who pulls the strings, allowing immorality to flood the land.
There are many ungodly issues in our land, that are prompted by the ungodly, with consumption taking place. How many cannot speak out concerning certain issues because they themselves are partaking of the same? Scripture asks: "You that teach another, teach not yourself? You that preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? You that say a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery" (Romans 2:21-22)?
We live in a land of plenty because this nation was conceived in God but we are now seeing ungodly influences having devastating results. Lifestyles; before unmentionable, are now becoming acceptable. Traditional Christianity is being replaced by a more liberal and easier way. Why has the world become an influence to the church rather than the church to the world? Are many simply becoming a Puppet Christian who flows with the wind of change?
