SEED OF DECEPTION

INTRODUCTION

Seed of deception is fluent in our modern day society which thrives on the fleshly desires of man.  It is a society that has been cultivated towards acceptance of the previous unacceptable.

It breeds and nourishes itself on the ungodly traits of man which has vastly increased in recent years and is now openly flaunted for all to see.  Scripture asks:  Were they ashamed when they committed abomination?  No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush (Jeremiah 6:15).

SEED OF DECEPTION
GOD'S WATCHMEN

The seed of deception, in the prophet Jeremiah's day, was in the people's stubborn refusal to walk in the traditional ways of true righteousness.  They were moving in their own paths and following their own ways which could only lead to destruction; and all the while believing all was OK.

In speaking the words of the Lord, the prophet Jeremiah said:  "I set watchmen over you, saying, hearken to the sound of the trumpet.  But they said, We will not hearken."  Then came those fateful words of the Lord:  "Hear, O earth: I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened to my words, or to my law, but rejected it" (Jeremiah 6:17-19).

 THE EVILNESS OF MAN

Today, the seed of deception has been passed on to a generation that has grown in love with the evilness of man.  Immorality has become the norm of the day with a constant growth.  Scripture reveals that evil men and seducers shall grow worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13).

Scripture admonishes the believer to be not partakers with them.  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  Redeeming the time because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:1-16).

It gives further warning and direction:  Beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:17-18).  Because of constant temptations and solicitations towards the evilness of man, believers need to be able to discern what is and what is not acceptable to the Lord (Romans 12:2).

PRELUDE TOWARDS ACCEPTANCE

There is an ongoing project, in America, by a firm offering microchip implants to purchase food items.  This should stir up a response from the religious community; a reminder of what Scripture reveals concerning receiving the mark during the Great Tribulation Period.

The first time such an implant was mentioned; it was reported out of Stockholm by the Associated Press.  Now it is closer to home in Wisconsin!  Scripture reveals:

The Antichrist will one day require all; both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads; that no man might buy or sell except he that has the mark (Revelations 13:16-17).

The implant mentioned in Stockholm was to open a electronic door; the one in Wisconsin to log on to computers and buy snacks.  This is but a prelude towards acceptance; the planting of a seed, towards the eventually fulfilling of bible prophecy.

ENSLAVEMENT OF MANY

One does not have to get caught up in the seed of deception that has infiltrated the land; and has enslaved many to the sinful side of man.  Scripture points out that the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Satan effectively shields the unbelieving of all ages, through deception, as he did in the garden of Eden, through the serpent, to being disobedience to God's Word (Genesis 3:4).  He painted a pretty picture to attract Eve to the forbidden fruit; as he does today, to capture one in his web of deceit (2 Timothy 3:26).

BREAK FROM THE OLD LIFE

When a man comes into union with the risen and glorified Savior, he is a "new creation" and sees Christ in a new way.  There comes a decisive break with the old life at the moment of conversion.

I will never forget the day I accepted the Lord into my own heart.  I felt a presence; and peace, I had never experienced before that day.  It was a lasting relationship that has availed itself for nearly 40 years!

My life made a drastic change as the old man began to fade away and the newness of Christ begin to come into focus (Romans 6:4).  He offers that same invitation today:  "I stand at the door (of one's heart) and knock:  if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will dine with him, and he with me" (Revelations 3:20).
