Silence of God's Word
There is an attempt towards the silence of God's Word in the arena of imposing restraints on one's ability to proclaim it to its fullness. We live in what is termed a democracy; such an existence entails government by the people and rule of the majority; a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation involving free elections. Some of this still exists but one can see it slowly ebbing away as godly influences are pushed aside towards what is thought to be the betterment of mankind. Values that use to exist are becoming non-existence or at least not in the forefront anymore. There is a movement towards the silencing of God's Word when it attempts to offset certain lifestyles.
Can God's Word be Silenced?
Can God's Word be silenced? It did not work in the days of the early church. There will still arise those who will not remain silent even though persecution attempts to offset one's effectiveness. Many countries today have attempted to stamp out the spreading of the Gospel message but it continues to prosper and go forth because the power of God is manifested in its proclamation. We are living in a time when ungodly lifestyles are being promoted and protected. For anyone to convey the truth of God's Word against such lifestyles is deemed unacceptable and to be stopped at any cost. It is not the Christian that condemns these practices but God's Word. His Word tells us that the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). There is a move to offset all and any opposition to the truth of the Gospel that would interfere with current ungodly lifestyles. Adherence to God's Word promotes godliness, righteousness, and even perseverance in face of opposition. Now is not the time to withdraw from God's Word but rather to embrace its intended message. There is the likelihood that things we would never have thought possible to take place in this nation will be ushered in by those who are capitalizing on the liberalization of our government.
The Advancement of God's Word
The attempt to silence God's Word has actually promoted its advancement. In countries that are suffering persecution simply for believing in Christ, expansion of the Gospel is taking place. Some voices may have been silenced but others are speaking out.
When the seed of God's Word is implanted in the heart of man it continues to flourish even in the midst of persecution. It was not man that placed it there but God himself and no man can pluck it away when it has been firmly entrenched.
Will God's Word be silenced? Will it be suppressed? Will it become unfruitful? Whoever believes such an insane notion needs to read what is said in God's Word. Justification for one's current lifestyle will not be accommodated unless it lines up with God's Word.
