STANDING FOR THE TRUTH
Standing for the truth is a must in the times in which we live. There is much, to the Christian, that are offensive to the senses, to the sight, morally offensive, and shocking. One man of God wrote: Impurity screams at us from every side, in the printed page, in advertising, in the dress and morals of men and women, even from those who proclaim to be the church of Jesus Christ; a very descriptive proclamation of the times in which we live. The apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians: You did run well; who did hinder you that you should not obey the truth? This persuasion comes not of him that called you (Galatians 5:7-8). This persuasion referred to the pressure tactics that were used to persuade the Galatians to embrace untruths. One should never deter from the truths of Scripture to accommodate an easier walk.
Going With The Flow
Compromise and deflection from the truths of God's Word will hinder one's walk in the Lord. Not only will it affect one personally but hinder others who may be influenced by how one walks while professing the name of Christ. There is a tendency to go with the flow in order to be accepted. No one likes being an outcast, and outsider, but rather being accepted by others. But at what price will it cost?Scripture tells one to take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:10-13). The whole armor of God includes: TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS, those of a holy character and moral conduct, the SHIELD OF FAITH, taking God at His Word by believing His promises, and PRAYER without which the armor of God would be inadequate.
One Person Can Make a Difference
History and Scripture reveals people of conviction, people of courage, and people who made a difference. In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German. In 1845, one vote brought Texas into the Union. In 1868, one vote saved a U. S. President from impeachment. In 1876, one vote gave the deciding vote for a U. S. President. One vote can make a difference. The mood of the people is not always for the best but a godly response to any given situation is. God will never lead one astray. For one to facilitate their walk in the Lord it is only through the truths revealed in God's Word that such a walk can be manifested.
God's Word Will Prevail
The "truths" of God's Word will set one free from the clutches of a sinful nature, of which we were all born into, due to Adam and Eve who brought sin and death into existence through disobedience to God's Word. Let us stand for the truths of God's Word and not allow deceit or deception to play into focus to draw us away. God's Word will prevail when all else fails. When this world, as we know it, no longer exits, there will be a new heavens and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness (2 Peter 3:13).
