Awaken to the truth is to come to a spiritual understanding of God's desire for mankind.  Scripture reveals:  This is the message that you heard from the beginning that we should love one another.  Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and murdered his brother (1 John 3:11-12).

It is appalling as to the evil that has spring forth.  One needs to awaken to the truth that there is violence and turmoil in the world that is on the verge of being liken as before the Flood that destroyed all except Noah and those in the Ark of Safety.  Scripture revealed that prior to the Flood:  God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that the imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5).

The axis of evil continues to spread, through the inhumanity of mankind, far from the commandment to love one another.  Scripture clearly identifies the inhumanity that shall take place through evil men and seducers growing worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:12).

God's Word tells of a time that one will call evil good, and good evil; put darkness for light, and light for darkness; put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Of those who would justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him (Isaiah 5:20-23)!

Scripture reveals that in the last days perilous times shall come (2 Timothy 3:1).  It gives a descriptive narrative to help awaken one to the reality of those times; that man will become lovers of pleasure more than the lovers of God.  Will have a form of godliness but denying the power thereof; and from such turn away (2 Timothy 3:2-5).

A form of godliness is mere religion without power or spiritual life.  Many modern churches in the Western world have evolved to such a status.  Many are losing sight of Biblical instruction formerly taught and preached.

Scripture reveals:  It is high time to awaken out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light (Romans 13:11-12).

Jesus said:  "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the Son of man.  They eat, they drank, they married wives, were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark and the flood came and destroyed them all (Luke 17:26-27).

Likewise  as it was in the days of Lot; they eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  Even so shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed" (Luke 17:28-30).  The people of Noah and Lot's day had not awaken to the truth; nor realized the severity and suddenness of the coming destruction, until it was upon them.

Jesus said:  "Watch for you know not what hour your Lord does come.  But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.  Therefore be you also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes" (Matthew 24:42-44).

One needs to awaken to the truth that the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night (2 Peter 3:10).  Many will be caught unprepared as the five foolish virgins mentioned in God's Word (Matthew 25:11-12).

One needs to be "prepared" whether it be for the Rapture of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17); or Jesus' Second Coming referred to as the coming of the Son of Man; or if one goes by the way of the grave (Hebrews 9:27).  Let one be prepared as the five wise virgins that were ready when the Lord appeared (Matthew 25:10).
