TURMOIL OF ADVERSITY
Turmoil of adversity is prevalent not only in America but on a global setting. Turmoil is a state of extreme confusion, or commotion; adversity a condition of continued difficulty. Where are the peaceful days that this nation once experienced? Yes, we have had wars and great difficulties in the past, and overcame them, through the help of the one who brought this nation to the pinnacle of success it has experienced. But now this status seems to be crumpling and many are at loss as to how to regain its former greatness. U.S. and global markets are being severely tested. Our national debt has become a looming problem with only a few patches being applied. Millions are out of work, losing their homes, with millions on government food stamps. We are in trouble morally, spiritually and financially. We are seeing adverse weather conditions affect every part of our nation and others. Many are losing hope as they see devastation come into their lives that seems to be insurmountable.
Uniting in Prayer
A cry for uniting in prayer is going forth though various sources as some realize the only answer to these troublesome times is turning to God who gave birth to this nation. He tremendously blessed us with His favor and prospered us even in the midst of previous turmoil. But now we are seeing horrific global conflicts that seemingly are spouting adversity at every hand. We are seeing the rise of immorality throughout our land, and others, with ungodly avenues being pursued that previously did not exist. This nation was founded through godly leadership, godly persuasion, and a desire to worship, giving homage to the one it continued to look to as its Creator. Its greatness is the result of such effort. Today there is an influx of ungodliness, the undermining of God's Word, walking according to one's own desire, and ignoring the God of its youth. Scripture reveals what is needful in the hour in which we live: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
God's Gift to Mankind
God's gift to mankind is revealed in John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He loved us so much that He gave His only Son (Jesus Christ) to suffer and die that through Him we might have life and have it more abundantly. He is the one who able to say, "Peace, be still!" and a calm can come in your life even in the midst of the turmoil of adversity that has flow unabated. Man does have the answer until he knows the "peace-giver."
