Adopted lifestyles have proven to be detrimental to any nation who has walked away from godliness and adopted ungodly lifestyles. There is an infestation of ungodliness that brings to remembrance the words of the prophet Isaiah:
Woe to them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight (Isaiah 5:20-21).
Pride in adopted lifestyles, in opposition to God's Word, was mentioned by the prophet Jeremiah, in speaking the words of the Lord: Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, there were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush; therefore they shall fall among that that fall: at the time that I visit (punish) them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord (Jeremiah 6:12).
Hear O earth; behold, I (God) will bring evil (calamity) upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened to my words, nor to my law, but reject it (Jeremiah 6:19). It was noted that the people's stubborn refusal to walk in the traditional ways of true righteousness is often mentioned by Jeremiah. Moving in their own paths and following their own way (adopted lifestyles) could lead only to their destruction.
The contrast of the way of righteousness and life; with the way of the ungodly and death, is often made in the Scriptures. We need more Isaiah's and Jeremiah's to sound the alarm against adopted lifestyles that are ungodly and contrary to God's Word. It was noted that we are suffering from the corrosive immoral breath of the 21 century. The secularism, humanism, materialism, liberalism, and commercialism of our day has devastated our resources of liberty.
There are adopted lifestyles that once were condemned; but now embraced, demanding approval, even with laws and judicial rulings made to accommodate such. There is an infestation of ungodliness being promoted that before would not been allowed by the church. It was noted that we are living in a very permissive day when the religious world is so tolerant to most any and all kinds of standards and lifestyles. This permissiveness and tolerance is the result of a self-willed and carnal minded society.
As a result of such tolerance and permissiveness, there many churches, and even denominations, which have altered their teachings, their standards, and even their interpretations of the Scriptures to please, to comply with and accommodate this permissive and tolerant society. Very few people this day hold to their heart's convictions. They change to blend in with their environment.
Adopted is to take up as one's own; to adopt the view or policy of another; and lifestyle is a manner of living that reflects a person's value and attitudes. Adopted lifestyles that before were considered sinful and ungodly; have now become normalized through promotion.
The words of the prophet Isaiah are coming to fruition (as previously mentioned); calling evil good and good evil; putting darkness for light and light for darkness; bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! As indoctrination of the youth, towards acceptance of these adopted lifestyles becomes more prevalent; so will the demise of a godly nation status.
It was noted that every thinking man realizes that the teachings of the Bible are interwoven with our whole civic and social life that it would be literally impossible for us to figure what life would be if those teachings were removed. We would lose almost all the standards by which we now judge both public and private morals; all the standards towards which we strive to raise ourselves (Theodore Roosevelt).
It is unfortunate but many are losing sight of the morals of yesteryear because they are no longer being taught or exercised. We are finding out what life would be without such teachings as we see an eruption of violence; evilness running rampant, and promoting adopted lifestyles (ungodly) that are self-centered and harmful towards mankind.
Scripture reveals: This know that in the last days perilous times shall come; men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous (money lovers), boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent (without self-control), fierce, despisers of those that are good; traitors, heady (reckless), high-minded, lovers of pleasures, more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away (2 Timothy 3:1-5).
It was noted that in the last days (which we are in) perilous times shall come; difficult times to live in, scarcity of provisions, evil times, troublesome times, being instituted by fair speeches towards following such pernicious ways (adopted lifestyles).
The demise of many a nation has been due to allowing immorality to become the norm rather than paying heed to "What Thus Saith the Lord!" It was noted that the average duration of the world's great civilizations has been about 200 years. A study of those civilizations reveals that their morality was not due to the lack of mental ability but to moral degeneration.
It was noted that all around us are the signs that modern man refuses to accept the fact that sin is his problem. If humanity continues to drift morally and socially during the next century as it did during the present one, we will sink into the abyss of total corruption and despair. The most dangerous society is one in which people have no sense of accountability to God, and no fear of God.
Voices of the past often venture into the future with meaningful words that fit the moral fiber of a present day environment. Adopted lifestyles of an ungodly nature has been the ruin of many a nation who has opted God out of its equation and become supportive of ungodly lifestyles.
Scripture warns against adopted lifestyles of an ungodly society: They (the people) were mingled among heathen (ungodly), and learned their works (lifestyles). And they served their idols which were a snare to them (Psalm 106:35-36).
It was noted that they not only dwelt among them, but intermarried with them, contrary to the law of God against such, absorbing their idolatrous practices. They adopted lifestyles which became a snare to them; bringing them into idolatry, as those they were associated with, bringing many evils and calamities upon themselves. They become as a bird or beast in a snare, bringing trouble and distress, out of which they could not release themselves.
I witnessed a monarch butterfly that had been caught in the snare of a spider's web; leaned over and freed it from its entrapment, for the spider had not yet began its work, and it flew up "freed" from its entrapment. It was a beautiful sight to behold, and that is what God wants to so for His people, freed from the temptations that so easily ensnare them (adopted lifestyles contrary to His Word) in our modern day culture.
He gave us His best in providing His only begotten Son, as an atonement for our sins, which frees us, through Jesus as Lord and Savior. The ugliness of what the spider was going to do, to such a beautiful butterfly, was undone by a moment of kindness; such is the beauty of salvation, that frees one from the ugliness of a sinful life into the beauty of holiness.
Scripture reveals: Being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:22-23).
The results of ungodly adopted lifestyles was identified by the prophet Hosea: They shall eat, and not have have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord (ceased obeying) (Hosea 4:10). It was noted what they consumed (ungodliness) did not satisfy or nourish them, for their appetites were still greedy for more of the same.
Scripture reveals: The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble (Proverbs 4:19). It was noted that such are in darkness of sin, ignorance, error, and unbelief: their works (adopted lifestyles) are works of darkness (sin); the way which leads to eternal darkness, ruin, and misery.
They know not at what they stumble at is due to being ignorant to the fact of spiritual blindness caused by Satan, and the snares of this world. Scripture reveals: In whom the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Scripture reveals a new lifestyle in Christ: Put off concerning the former conversation (previous adopted lifestyles) the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind. And put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).
It was noted that one is to put off the old man, to renounce one's pre-conversion life and sins (old adopted lifestyles); to be renewed in mind, constantly changed, being brought more and more in line with God's Word: putting on the new man, that is to assume a new nature (character) and conduct (life) at conversion to Christ.
A new heart, new spirit, new eyes to see with (previously blinded by sin), ears to hear with (the glorious Gospel of Christ), having a new life at conversion, walking in accordance with God's Word (of extreme importance); no longer having adopted lifestyles that are contrary to His Word!
