Can America survive; as well as other once godly nations, the onslaughter of ungodliness marching victorious throughout the land? Is the pomp and vigor of such outweighing godliness that once prevailed? Is the killing of the unborn in the mother's womb; the rising of the lifestyle of Sodom and Gomorrah, and failure to recognize one's God-given identity at birth, not contributing to the downfall of America and those who follow its lead?
The demise of once godly nations plays into the picture when the ungodly begin to tear down long standing Biblical principles of yesteryear. This is further heightened with an attempt to still the voices of the godly; with laws and judicial rulings made to snuff out those voices. Can America survive; as well as other nations who reject the inner calling of God for reformation?
The prophet Jeremiah cried out: Thus saith the Lord, Stand you in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths; where is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken (Jeremiah 6:16-17). Hear O earth: I will bring evil (calamity) upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened to my words, nor to my law, but rejected it (Jeremiah 6:19).
It was noted that the people's stubborn refusal to walk in the traditional ways of true righteousness is often mentioned by the prophet Jeremiah. Moving in their own paths, and following their own way, would lead only to their destruction.
A younger generation; ignorant of God's Word, are advocating a walk, that can only bring destruction, rather than blessings, from God who sees all. Scripture reveals: The Lord looks from heaven, he beholds all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth (Psalm 33:13-14).
There is a walking away from the truths of God's Word that invokes a question: Can America survive, or other nations, that once adhered to God's Word, but have now allowed the deception of the ungodly to rule the day?
Voices of the past issuing warnings: John Foster Dulles stated: Our institutions of freedom will not survive unless they are constantly replenished by the faith that gave them birth. His warning gives amply reason for the question: Can America survive; as we are seeing an erosion of a godly stance that once prevailed. We are seeing a walking away from godly principles that enhanced the "One Nation Under God" concept.
Jebediah Morse stated: Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present forms of government, and all the blessings, which flow from them, must fail with them. His words amply illustrates a great need to return to the pillars of Christianity that once prevailed in the land.
There are many churches, in the land, who have adopted secular and socialist values, rather than stand firm with God's Word! Can America survive; if a takeover of socialist values succeeds, rather than uphold the freedoms established by the constitution?
Daniel Webster stated: If truth is not diffused, error will be. If the power of the Gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end. If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury our glory in profound obscurity.
An unknown author wrote of the things that will destroy us: Politics without principle; Pleasure without conscience; Business without morality; Science without humanity; and Worship without sacrifice. Those words of the past reflect warnings concerning the future of mankind: Can America survive if we continue to ignore such obvious warnings?
Scripture reveals the downfall of a nation; along with the reason why: Jerusalem is ruined (has stumbled), and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to provoke (rebel against) the eyes of his glory. The show of their countenance (look on their faces) does witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, and hide it not. Woe to their soul! For they have rewarded (brought) evil to themselves (Isaiah 3:8-9).
It was noted that the countenance oftentimes shows what is in the heart, the cruel disposition of the mind, the pride and vanity of it, the uncleanness and lasciviousness that is in it. They commit sin (as Sodom) openly, without fear or shame; glory in it, and boast of it. They have been the cause of their own ruin.
These words are very descriptive of the need to ask: Can America survive, along with other once godly nations, that have allowed ungodliness to gain influence; with a display of pride, rather than shame? Truth is being masked over as deception is being ushered in towards acceptance of ungodly lifestyles. Leadership is being replaced by those in opposition to godly values; along with promoting ungodly lifestyles that are condemned in God's Word.
Scripture reveals: You shall not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shall you speak in a cause to decline (turn aside) after many to wrest (pervert) judgment (Exodus 23:2). It was noted you shall not follow a multitude to do evil; is a warning towards those not to be followed, but rather guarded against.
We are seeing such activity in many cities in America; with indulgence by the hundreds and thousands, being led as a lamb to the slaughter towards the disgruntled ways of man. Can America survive with such having become as a puppet before a puppeteer; who pulls the strings to control one's movements.
There is a frightening pace that is prevailing in many once godly nations. There are inroads being laid to walk away from what America has inscribed on its coins: "In God We Trust" as literally thousands toss aside the sacred declaring of those words!
Scripture reveals: Be not deceived God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). America, and other once godly nations, have allowed seeds of ungodliness to be sown; and are now reaping what has been sown!
Can America survive? Can other nations who have allowed the ungodly culture of today survive? Is there not an onslaughter of devastation being experienced with record breaking events? Has the blessings of the past vanished; as turmoil and destruction unfold in dramatic proportions? Has the American dream of peace and prosperity been replaced with discontentment becoming the norm of the day?
The prophet Ezekiel was asked of God: Son of man, can these bones (Israel) live? And I (Ezekiel) answered, O Lord God, you know (Ezekiel 37:3). Can America survive? Can other once godly nations survive? Is there any probability of it; is there any reason for such a hope?
It was noted that the prophet Ezekiel does not pronounce at once that such was improbable or impossible; he knew it was not probable, or possible, that these bones (Israel) should revive of themselves; but he wisely conferred it to God, who knew that He could and would do; that it was wholly to His will and power, that nothing else could make it probable or possible.
Scripture reveals: Then he said to me (Ezekiel), son of man these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say, our bones are dried; and our hope is lost; we are cut off from our parts (Ezekiel 37:11). The house of Israel was in Babylon captivity; in desperation and despair; cut off from the land of Israel; seemingly with no hope towards possessing it again.
America, and other once godly nations are in a liken condition; their Babylon captivity being the ungodliness that has polluted the land, with allowance and continuation, along with being held in bondage to its influence and destructive nature.
Israel could see not way out of her dilemma; but did recognize her desperate condition. The question: Can America survive, along with other once godly nations, can only be answered with the words of Ezekiel: O Lord God, you know!
Scripture reveals: Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus saith the Lord, behold, O my people: I will open your graves, and cause you to come out of your graves; bringing you into the land of Israel (Ezekiel 37:12). It was noted that Ezekiel was to prophesy to them to revive their hopes, and encourage their faith, in their distressed state. They were still God's people, who had a covenant with them, and they with Him.
They were in cities and prisons in Chaldea and other places; where they were confined and held captive; from which they could no more deliver themselves than a dead man of himself can rise up out of his grave. However, God would bring them to the land of Israel, to dwell in it, and abide there, and no more be removed from it.
Scripture gives a clear pathway towards reconciliation to God: If my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
It was noted that while this promise was originally given to King Solomon regarding the people of Israel, it is certainly applicable to all who call on the Lord in repentance and faith. This verse is a high expression of God's loving readiness to hear the prayers of a repentant people.
