DISGRUNTLE INDIVIDUALS

LISTEN

By Roy Burner - Minister of the Gospel

INTRODUCTION

Disgruntle individuals are those who are in a state of discontentment; who are unaccommodating towards any effort of appeasement or correction.  They fall into the category of faultfinding, ill-temperament, and rebellious in nature; as well as aggressive, opinionated, and energetic in their pursuit to flaunt their agenda before others.

Scripture reveals that the tongue devises mischief's; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully (Psalm 52:2) which is a fitting description of disgruntle individuals.  We are seeing such becoming more combative; often to the point of attacking those who represent their hatred.  (Comment)

Disgruntle Individuals - Like a Contagious Disease

There are many hate groups consisting of disgruntle individuals who have allowed hated to foster and spread like a contagious disease.  They are of a reprobate mind; closed to any attempt to reason with with them.

By gnawing through a dyke even a rat may drown a nation (Edmund Burks).  Scripture reveals that the words of a slanderer are as wounds, that go into the innermost parts of the belly (Proverbs 18:8).  They are as internal wounds that require a surgical removal.  Any nation allowing such to fester, and openly flaunted before all, flirts with disastrous results.

A Heavy Darkness

Many once godly nations have become liable to an infestation of disgruntle individuals; having lost sight of God's ability to deal with such, according to their deeds.

Scripture tells of a heavy darkness that shrouded Israel during the prophet Elijah's time.  The Israelites were so immersed in rebellion against God that they refused to heed Elijah's warning of God's impending judgment (1 Kings 17:1-6).  We are seeing an increasing tendency, of many once godly nations, to allow continuation of evil; rather than being dealt with, as in the case of Nineveh.

Repentance of Nineveh

The prophet Jonah cried out against Nineveh:  Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown (Jonah 3:4).  The people of Nineveh believed God and every one turned from their evil way, and from the violence that was in their hands.

The repentance of Nineveh begin with her king.  None were immune; for all were condemned to destruction from the greatest to the least.  Scripture reveals the nature of their repentance:  Who can tell if  God will turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not (Jonah 3:9).

God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented of the evil, that he had said that he would do to them, and he did it not (Jonah 3:10).  There were no more disgruntle individuals; all repented, as God came into the limelight.  On the basis of their repentance, God dealt with them in grace and mercy, rather than judgment, as their failure to repent would have necessitated.

Once Godly Nations

We are seeing many nations; that were once classified as godly nations, allowing filth and degradation to invade the land.  There are disgruntle individuals who are feeding their hatred and spreading discontentment towards any change for the better.

Daniel Webster stated:  If truth is not diffused, error will be; if the power of the Gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end.

We are seeing a flirtation with God and consumption of ungodly ways more prevalent, than ever before.  There are voices crying out in opposition; but far too few, with disgruntle individuals seemingly ruling the day.

Those Who Openly Oppose God

The killing of the unborn in the womb is an atrocity towards God and is being kept alive by laws and judicial rulings.  There are disgruntle individuals who favor such and openly oppose any attempt to undo what is considered by some; a woman's right.

The acceptance of homosexuality, condemned in God's Word, is boldly being proclaimed and infiltrating the leadership of a nation.  The questioning of a God-given birth is being openly flaunted by a transgender movement that is demanding equal rights as any other minority.

There needs to be a Nineveh type repentance; but the tentacles of ungodliness are far reaching, with the Unadulterated of God being flaunted rather than upheld.  Disgruntle and demanding individuals are the makeup of many movements that are opposed to any godliness.

Hearts as Flint

They made their hearts as flint, lest they should hear (Zechariah 7:11).  I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is a grasping for the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:17-18).

Disgruntle individuals do not seek the truth, their hearts are as flint; as if they already know the truth.  They seek no change; having a dogmatic determination to continue their course of action.  They display open opposition to those who would seek to oppose them, or reveal the truth to them.

Disgruntle individuals openly proclaim their ways with a hunger for others to follow.  There is a dismantling of godly ways by such individuals; even affecting the church in many Western nations.  Many are consuming the secular culture of today with no separation as called for in God's Word.

Come Out from Among Them

Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.  Come out from among them, and be you separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.  And will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world, but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).

Opportunity for Correction

Disgruntle individuals have been a part of man's makeup since the first murder was committed in the days of Cain and Abel.  When it came time to honor God with an offering; He accepted Abel's but not Cain's.

God gave Cain an opportunity to make things right in saying:  If you do well, shall you not be accepted?  And if you do not well, sin lies at the door (Genesis 4:7).  Cain became one of the first disgruntle individuals refusing to offer atonement to God as directed; but instead killed his brother in anger.

God had approached Cain in love and offered him a chance to correct the mistake but sin, like a crouching lion, sprang into action instead.  A Sunday school commentary noted:  It has been said that sin will do three things in one's life:  It will take one where they never intended to go.  It will keep one longer than they intended to stay.  It will cost one more than they intended to pay.  Sin is costly business that separates people from God.

Blessed is the Nation

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.  For the Lord looks from heaven; he beholds all the sons of men.  From the place of his habitation he looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth.  The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy.  He brings the counsel of the heathen to nought; he makes the devise of the people of none effect (Psalm 33:10-18).

The fact that God is a merciful God is the only reason judgment has yet to unfold.  The Lord is longsuffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).  Still, there are disgruntle individuals, who relish in the ungodliness of man, and do not desire any change.

Traits of the Unsaved

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and eivl speaking, but away from you, with all malice (all traits of disgruntle individuals): and be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:29-32).  How much more would a nation be blessed if the traits of the saved were manifested in every soul!

Withholding of God's Blessings

Is God withholding His blessings?  Are there token judgments being unleashed to restore once godly nations?  Are we seeing disasters as simply mother nature acting up or are they being allowed by God for a reason?

Do we see violence simple as disgruntle individuals or is it because a nation has forsaken God and is suffering the results of allowing ungodliness to be manifested?  Are we seeing a younger generation sweeping aside godly precepts once firmly implanted in a nation's culture?  Questions needing an answer, rather than being ignored, that God's blessings might flow again (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Darkness rather than Light

This is the condemnation that light (the Lord Jesus Christ) is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.  For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved (or exposed) (John 3:19-20).

Disgruntle individuals, unless they become of a broken heart and contrite spirit (Psalm 34:18), will not seek guidance from on High.  Instead they will attempt to divert others to their way of thinking; not knowing their destructive ways will one day be dealt with by an Almighty God, unless repentance comes in the forefront.

Saving Grace

Disgruntle individuals need to get a grasp on the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  When such is realized, and accepted, one becomes a new creation; old things are passed away; all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).  There is a decisive break with the old life at the moment of conversion.

One puts off the former conduct of the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lusts; and is renewed in the spirit of one's mind: and puts on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).
