Dwelling in wickedness has become a normality in many once godly nations. There is an adoption of evil ways that far exceeds the Pre-Flood days of Noah, the Sodom and Gomorrah era, and Babylon spoken of in the Book of Revelation which was the hold of every foul spirit (Revelation 18:2).
Evil is defined as morally objectionable behavior; of being morally wrong in principle or practice; exerting a malignant influence, wickedness, and depravity. There are those who praise all carnal pleasures, fleshly desires, and treat with contempt any of a godly nature. (Comment)
The prophet Isaiah, in declaring God's message towards evil, cried out: Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil. Woe to them that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flames consume the chaff, so shall their root be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord (Isaiah 5:20-24).
Those words do not pamper evil habits of those who choose to flaunt God's Word; but declares destruction toward those who promulgate or participate in such activities. They are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest: to whom the gloom of darkness is reserved forever. They shall utterly perish in their own corruption (2 Peter 2:12).
Evil often triumphs but never conquers (Joseph Roux). We cannot do evil to others without doing it to ourselves (Author unknown). Thinking evil is much the same as doing it (Japanese Proverb). He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it (Henry David Thoreau).
How many are guilty of this last quotation? One of the problems of today is those who know the truth fail to oppose those who help promote evil. While many remain silent the evilness of man continues to flourish with little opposition.
A Sunday school commentary noted: Where there is no fear of God, no reverence for God, every evil can and will abound. The idea that humans will be good without God is a deceptive fallacy. When people are devoid of the knowledge and wisdom that come from believing God and having reverence for Him, they become morally corrupt, exceedingly evil, violent and destructive.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than dwelling in wickedness (Psalm 84:10). This scripture alludes to the Levites, with some as porters, who kept the doors of the Lord's House (1 Chronicles 26:1).
In the days of Abraham, Lot his nephew knew what it was like dwelling in wickedness, after having chosen the plain of Jordan as his dwelling place; pitching his tent toward Sodom and later moving there. Scripture reveals that the men of Sodom were wicked and sinful before the Lord exceedingly (Genesis 13:12-13).
Lot was oppressed with the filthy conduct of the wicked: for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, tormented his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds (2 Peter 2:7-8). It took the angels of the Lord to deliver Lot, and his family, from Sodom prior to God's raining fire and brimstone from heaven upon it as an example to those who afterward should live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6).
Sunday school commentary noted: God, having power and authority to create, also has power and authority to destroy that which He creates. This was shown by the Flood. When humans become so evil, that every thought and imagination of the human mind and heart was only evil continually.
God decided to destroy from the earth the humans He had created (with the exception of Noah and his family). To give life and take away life are both within God's authority. Those words should be a warning to any who fall into the category of dwelling in wickedness.
God placed the rainbow in the sky, as a covenant between him and the earth, that all flesh would not be cut off anymore by waters of a flood: neither anymore a flood to destroy the earth (Genesis 9:13). It is sad that man is now utilizing the color of the rainbow as a symbol towards dwelling in wickedness.
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water perished: but now the heavens and the earth, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:7).
For the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in which the heavens shall pass away with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conduct and godliness (2 Peter 3:10-11).
Scripture reveals that the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust to the day of judgment to be punished (2 Peter 2:9).
We, (the faithful in Christ), according to his promise, look for new heavens, and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness. Wherefore, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless (2 Peter 3:12-14).
Beware lest, you being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:17-18).
There are many today who would attempt to lead one astray; starting with the youth, who are easy targets, departing from the influence of God's Word. There are many who would attempt to alleviate such an influence of youths and adults alike.
Many have come to acceptance of dwelling in wickedness, by allowing indoctrination from mainstream and social media, Hollywood, critics of anything of a godly nature, and the onrush of ungodly activity that has become so acceptable to our society to filter into the lives of many.
Walk carefully, not as fools, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil (Ephesians 4:15-16). For we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).
Scripture reveals that evil men and seducers will grow worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13). Many once godly nations have opened their doors to welcome in the evils of mankind. One to to abstain from every form of evil; not to entertain it, welcome it, but to reject it. Be not deceived; evil company corrupts good habits (1 Corinthians 15:33).
Dwelling in wickedness opens the door for all kinds of ungodly behavior. Sin may be appealing, for the moment, taking one where they never intended to go; keeping one longer than they intended to stay, and costing one more than they intended to pay. Sin is costly business that separates people from God.
The apostle Paul wrote: Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God (Galatians 1:3-4). Dwelling in wickedness will not be overlooked; today is the day of salvation by rejecting the evilness of our day, and putting on Christ.

A glimpse of heaven is given in God's Word as the dwelling place of the Deity; everlasting abode of the righteous, and referred to as Paradise..
Permissive society of today warrants a day in court in regards to allowing ungodliness to flourish which is encouraged by a carnal minded society.
Searching for hope is a prelude to receiving. When tragedy threatens, or strikes, one needs to reach out to God who is greater than one's present circumstance.
