Increased hostility is as a blank check; signed, sealed, and delivered with the cost yet to be determined. Hostility grows and festers until it reaches a distorted view of its original conception. It is as a cancerous growth unabated until it accomplishes its devious work.
In many countries there is an ongoing battle of dissension in government, with a war of words, leaving many attempting to determine the truth. (Comment)
An encyclopedia describes hostility in this manner: A persistent feeling of anger or resentment combined with a strong desire to express it or retaliate. Though hostile impulses are normal, and every one has them from time to time; when one becomes frustrated, offended, or deprived of something, but a hostile person feels those impulses regularly.
We are seeing a constant bombardment of increased hostility being played out in many nations because of discontentment of existing conditions. Similar words of hostility: Opposition, violence, aggression, bickering, confrontation, contention, and discord.
Scripture reveals six things that the Lord hates; seven being an abomination to him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to wicked ways, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among the brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19). Through advanced worldwide technology we are seeing these played out in many countries; with some being more noticeable than others.
How good and pleasant it is to dwell together in unity (rather than hostility) (Psalm 133:1). A warning is given to those who choose to ignore such a path: Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand (Matthew 12:25).
We are seeing a fresh outpouring of hated, with increased hostility, taking place in many nations. Hostility exposes ill-conceived characteristics that does not produce harmony or peaceful solutions to the problem at hand. It closes the door to even a remote possibility of peace; instead plants more hostility.
The prophet Samuel cried out: Shall the sword devour forever? Know you not that it shall be bitterness in the latter end (2 Samuel 2:26)? Samuel was calling for an end to the bitter conflict of the Israelites who were fighting against one another.
We are seeing a promotion of hostility in many places throughout the world. Is there not a flame of anger in many nations that seemingly is unable to be quenched bringing increased hostility? There are voices of opposition that are so boisterous that they outweigh any attempt to dis-escalate conflict.
A Sunday school commentary noted: The increased hostility toward Christians in Western nations may be a sign of worse times to come for Christian citizens. Many Western nations of the world are moving steadily towards living entirely by secular values and God's Word being ignored. In such an environment Christians who adhere to the Bible will be hated by the world.
There is a magnitude who attempt to suppress the truth and conceive a lie. Scripture condemns such in saying: That they all might be condemned who believed not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:12).
A Bible commentary noted: That they be condemned was because they received not the love of the truth, neither the word of truth, choosing to believe a lie, having pleasure in all unrighteousness, in sinful ways and works, to be punished with both temporal and eternal destruction.
We are living in times in which many are walking away from the truth of the Gospel. Walking away from the blessed hope that God's Word instills; deceived into believing a lie that would prompt one to walk contrary to God's Word. Many today are listening in to the breeding ground of immorality that will send one's soul to Hell unless set free.
George Washington kneeling in prayer at Valley Forge said: Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage, we humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will.
Save us from violence, discord and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Endow with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that though obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth.
We are seeing the need for such a prayer again; as once godly nations are withdrawing from God's Word, through acceptance of ungodly ways. God's Word does not encourage such but rather:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Salvation of the soul of man is God's number one priority! Scripture reveals that God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
He that believes on the Son is not condemned; but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18). He that believes on the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) has everlasting life; and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God remains on him (John 3:36).
Many churches in the Western world have allowed secularism to infiltrate and are falling into the description of having only a form of godliness (2 Timothy 2:5). There is a new breeding ground being established which encourages embracing worldliness rather than godliness.
Thank God for the faithful who are standing for the truth, in the hour of darkness, and proclaiming the Gospel of Christ! The prophet Elijah thought he was all alone saying: I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life to take it away (1 Kings 19:10).
God responded with: Yet I have left seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal (a false god) (1 Kings 19:18). God established the fact that one is not alone in their stand for the truth of His Word; those who will not bow their knees to the falseness of this world and its increased hostility!
