By Roy Burner - Minister of the Gospel
Morality without God has heightened in these latter years with an increase in the unrighteousness of man as one becomes less attentive to God's Word. The influence of that Word has lessened as man seeks to identify with morality; or lack thereof, in his own ill-conceived ways. (Comment)
The apostle Paul who was concerned for Israel in that they were attempting to leave Christ out of the equation concerning the righteousness of God, stated: I bear record that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
For they being ignorant of God's righteousness are going about to establish their own righteousness, having not submitted to the righteousness of God (Romans 10:2-3).
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes (Romans 10:4). Morality without God is a grave error on anyone's part!
I was drawn to the title of this message through a prophecy given by General Booth of the Salvation Army uttered just prior to his death:
I consider the chief dangers that confront this coming century will be Religion without the Holy Ghost (or that of God's Spirit); Christianity without Christ; Forgiveness without regeneration; Morality without God; and Heaven without Hell.
Those who are open to the truth can readily see this prophecy being fulfilled. There is an utter disregard for the fruitfulness of yesteryear; as man allows immorality to blossom forth as a rose, when in reality it is a thorn!
Ignoring God's Word in such terms as Sanctification (being set apart unto God); Righteousness (doing what is right in the sight of God); and Holiness (without which no man shall see the Lord - Hebrews 12:14); is a serious error. Such terms are being cast aside to make room for acceptance of the previously unacceptable!
An unknown author wrote of the things which will destroy us:
Politics without principle, pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; and worship without sacrifice.
These are all in evidence today; and if continued, will bring devastation upon any nation! Morality is the distinction between good and evil; right and wrong; with conformity to moral biblical standards.
The prophet Isaiah foretold of a time when one would call evil good, and good evil; put darkness for light, and light for darkness; bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. Those who would be wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Which would justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him (Isaiah 5:20-23).
The youth of the land are being taught the immorality of man! Their minds are being polluted with ungodly inducement; rather than being instilled with the righteousness established in God's Word!
The moment that prayer was taken out of public schools; it opened Pandora's box for the evils of mankind to enter in! With the Unadulterated Word of God no longer being promulgated; the teaching of God's Word bypassed, it opened the door to usher in morality without God.
One man stated: To give a man full knowledge of true morality, I would send him to no other than the New Testament! True morality without God is impossible. Many have been blinded to the truth; not even realizing the dangerous state they have entered into!
In the latter days some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:1-2).
Morality without God; is only a suggestive thought, for it cannot truly be. There are those who are attempting to push aside the morality of God; with one becoming ingrained with the immorality of man. For once godly nations, to truly become truly great again; they will have to quit attempting to set up their own standards of morality!
Daniel Webster stated:
Our ancestors established their system of government on morality and religious sentiment. Moral habits, they believed, cannot safely be trusted on any other foundation than religious principle, nor any government be secure which is not supported by moral habits.
Many places in God's Word gives the conditions for a nation to be blessed of God. First of all one has to adhere to the Word of God; walk in godliness, not allowing the infiltration by the ungodly. Such a stand is presently lacking in many nations; as many continue to walk in the path of the ungodly, enjoying the pleasures of sin, without regard to the eternal condition of the soul!
Morality without God is unattainable; cleansing of the soul without God is unattainable; it takes a Savior (the Lord Jesus Christ), sent by God, who paid the ultimate sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, in giving of His own life for the sins of mankind, to cleanse one from all sin (1 John 1:7).
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9). If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; all things become new (2 Corinthians 6:17).
God's Word reveals that upon conversion; one sets their mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in the knowledge after the image of him that created you, for Christ is all, and in you (Colossians 3:2-11).
Let the prophecy previously mentioned; at the beginning of this message, concerning the chief dangers that confront the coming century, be noted and allowed to register in one's mind! Any supposed morality without God is false, for it is not biblical sound based on God's Word.
Let one be inspired to no longer partake of such a falsehood by drawing closer to a heavenly Father who loves you (John 3:16); a Savior who bled and died for you! Allow the saving grace of Jesus Christ, who now sits on the right hand of His Father in heaven, as one's advocate and intercessor, become the vocal point of one's life (1 John 2:1-2)!
