Powerful influence to deceive exists today as the serpent in the Garden of Eden who enticed Eve to partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
The serpent made the fruit of the tree appetizing, pleasant to the eyes, and to be desired of, despite God's command to not partake of it, nor even touch it; lest they die (Genesis 3:3). (Comment)
There are those who stand for the truths of God's Word who desire to see a return of the godly nature which previously existed. There is also an onrush of evilness captivating the land as well, that makes such a stance look like little David facing the giant Goliath.
There are those who bear the fruit of corruptness; and unless identified, will continue be a powerful influence to deceive. The apostle Paul identified a fellow worker, which had forsaken the right way, loving this present world (2 Timothy 4:10). Many today; who once stood for the truths of God's Word, are being deceived into acceptance of the corruptness of man.
There is a war being waged between the forces of good and evil. There are ungodly traits being put forth that are being readily consumed. A powerful deception is in the offering; due to lack of godly influence.
We are seeing ungodly influences manifested that far exceed Sodom and Gomorrah which God destroyed as an example to those who afterward should live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6). We are seeing un-righteousness presented; with acceptance becoming the norm.
Scripture tells of Lot who was oppressed with the filthy conduct of the wicked: for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, tormented his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds (2 Peter 2:7-8). Lot was so intrigued with some aspect of Sodom that he lingered when destruction was forthcoming. What influence would hold one captive at such a time (2 Timothy 2:26)?
There is an influence to mislead in the political arena; with difficulty in knowing who is telling the truth! The mainstream media is bias in their reporting. The social media is an unreliable source. There is division and mistrust with a lack of coming together for the good of the country.
There is a powerful influence to deceive in the sanctity of life. A Sunday school commentary noted: The loss of regard for the sacredness of human life is a dangerous path to travel. Many today embrace the "culture of death" for convenience; abortion on demand, euthanasia, etc. When human life is not treated as a sacred gift from God; life itself ceases to have any meaning or purpose.
Powerful influence to deceive will always be in the world; as long as ungodly influences remain. However, one does not have to be so captivated that they become enslaved! Scripture reveals that God always gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Permissive society of today warrants a day in court in regards to allowing ungodliness to flourish which is encouraged by a carnal minded society.
Ploy to deceive is a tactic intended to embarrass or frustrate an opponent. In many nations there ia a tendency to gain advantage through such a tactic.
Snake in the grass is a deceitful or treacherous person. We are seeing more of this trend rather than integrity that was once bountiful.
The neglected word is a dereliction of receiving the Word of God in its entirety. Many are walking away from the God of their youth as they line up with a secular society.
Searching for hope is a prelude to receiving. When tragedy threatens, or strikes, one needs to reach out to God who is greater than one's present circumstance.
Present day mentality is notably different than yesteryear. We live in an electronic age that changes the thought patterns of many individuals.
