CULTURES
The diversity of cultures has plagued mankind since the conflict of Cain against his brother Abel; beginning a long history of human violence and inhumanity. Abel was a keeper of sheep; Cain a tiller of the ground. Both presented an offering before the Lord; Abel's was accepted of God and Cain's rejected.
We are seeing inhumanity in full bloom due to the diversity of cultures bringing division rather than unity. There is a war being waged between good and evil that started on that fateful day when Cain rose up and slew his brother Abel in a fit of rage and jealously.
God approached Cain in love and offered him a chance to make the right kind of sacrifice with a right heart attitude, in saying: If you do well, shall you not be accepted? And if you do not well, sin lies at the door (Genesis 4:7). Cain refused God's offer; and after slaying His brother Abel, judgment was unleashed. Scripture reveals: When you (Cain) till the ground, it shall not henceforth yield to you her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall you be in the earth (Genesis 4:12).
The Diversity of Cultures
Wickedness of Man
The diversity of cultures (a cultural drift) toward ungodliness has not gone unnoticed by God. Scripture reveals: The Lord looks from heaven; he beholds all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth (Psalm 33:13-14). God took notice of the pre-Flood days of Noah, and brought destruction on all the inhabitants of the earth (with exception of Noah and his family), so does God take notice today!
Scripture reveals: God saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (all the day) (Genesis 6:5). And God said to to Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me, and the earth is filled with violence through them; and I will destroy them with the earth (Genesis 6:13).
Symbol of Grace and Mercy
Now Symbol of Ungodliness
Scripture reveals that God will no more destroy the earth with a flood ( as in the days of Noah) by placing a rainbow in the sky as a reminder of that covenant (promise) with man (Genesis 9:13-15). Man has now taken that symbol of grace and mercy to make it a symbol of ungodliness being openly proclaimed in many lands. The diversity of cultures has opened the door for such activities to come into existence; as man elevates and proclaims the ungodliness of man without reservation or shame.
The prophet Jeremiah, in speaking the words of the Lord asked: Were they ashamed when they had committed abominations? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush; therefore they shall fall among them that fall at the time that I visit (punish) them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord (Jeremiah 6:15).
Power and Authority
to Destroy
It was noted that God has the power and authority to destroy that which he creates. This was shown by the Flood in the days of Noah. When humans become so evil, that every thought and imagination of the human mind and heart was only evil continually, God decided to destroy from the earth the humans He had created.
To give life and take away life are both within God's authority. The diversity of cultures (godly or ungodly) can play a significant role in God's response; in regard to the direction the cultures of a nation swing.
Ungodliness Openly
Proclaimed
The term culture involves the knowledge and values shared by a society. The ungodliness of man is no longer hidden in the closet but proudly proclaimed in many nations. The evilness of man has expounded on the ungodly cultures of our day by electing and appointing officials high in the government to spread its agenda.
Television programming, the Internet, social media, and other forms of dissemination, help spread ungodly agenda; with the diversity of cultures expounded upon by laws and rulings to accommodate growth and acceptance, even to the children and youth of the land.
Ungodliness Enhanced
Rather then Rejected
Another definition of culture is the act or means employed towards training, disciplining, or refining the moral nature of man; with the result of such cultivation being improvement, enlightenment, and discipline acquired by mental and moral training. This is undertaken by education of the masses towards acceptance rather than rejection.
The diversity of cultures is downplayed to a single contributor rather than many choices; for the will of the people is no longer a factor, as that of a puppet being controlled by the puppeteer! Freedom once enjoyed is stifled when one stands for the truth; becoming as little David opposing the giant Goliath, but it was the hand of God that gave David the victory!
Divisions and Offenses
Scripture reveals: Mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ but their own belly (desires); and by good (smooth) words, and fair (flattering) speeches deceive the hearts of the simple (innocent) (Romans 16:17-18). It was noted that the Apostle Paul did not want the truth to be undermined, marred, or impaired.
The Apostle Paul also addressed the diversity of cultures in speaking to the Galatians: I marvel that you are so soon removed (turning away) from him that called you to the grace of Christ, to another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would (want to) pervert the gospel of Christ (Galatians 1:6-7). So soon removed can be translated; so quickly deserting. The Galatians were in the initial stages of defecting from God to another gospel; of a different setting.
Church Overriding
Truths of the Gospel
We are seeing the church; in many cases, allowing the diversity of cultures to outweigh the truths of the Gospel by embracing ungodly cultures, rather than the Unadulterated (Pure) Word of God. There is a growing trend towards the truths of God's Word not being promulgated as it once was.
A younger generation of believers have evolved who no longer adhere to Scriptural teachings of the past, as new innovative ways come into existence that are more attractive that the strait and narrow way, spoken of by our Lord, who said: Enter you are the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go their in at.
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leads to life few there be that find it (Matthew 7:13-14). Christ Himself is both the gate and the way and God enables men to find that gate.
Exposing Ungodliness
Scripture reveals: The people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building (Ezra 4:4). There was a task before them to be accomplished but there were those who attempting to dissuade them, often threatening and endeavoring to hinder them.
The diversity of cultures today has risen to a level of a threatening attitude towards those who would expose ungodliness. The indwelling nature of such is as the pre-Flood days of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Babylon the hold of every foul spirit. It will take the hand of God to offset acceptance of ungodly ways.
Choosing One's Direction
in Life
Scripture reveals: If it seem evil to you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods (idols) your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood (Euphrates); or the gods of the Armories, in whose land you dwell; but as for me, and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
Due to diversity of cultures, rather than a godly culture, the people in Joshua's day had turned to the heathen gods and Joshua was attempting to restore them back to worshiping God. That commitment needs to be made today; in that allowance has been made towards ungodly lifestyles that are condemned in God's Word.
Inroad to Destruction
There is an inroad to destruction being laid. Scripture reveals: Whereby the world that then was (pre-Flood days of Noah) being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved to fire against (until) the day of judgment and perdition (destruction) of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:6-7).
The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the elements that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conversation (conduct) and godliness (2 Peter 3:9-11).
Nevertheless we (the believer in Christ) according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness (2 Peter 3:13). Seeing that you know before (beforehand), beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:17).
