Trends of today leave us saturated with the ungodliness of man. There is a continuation; rather than decline, of acceptance towards the immorality of man. Many have heighten the attractiveness of sin, to accommodate fleshly desires, being fed by electronic means of today.
There are those who have been silenced, for one reason or another, from speaking the Unadulterated Word of God. They have become captive to an unhealthy environment, enslaved to the trends of today, with a discontinuation of the godly nature expounded upon in God's Word. (Comment)
Scripture admonishes the believer to lay aside all filthiness and abundance of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls (James 1:21-22).
Trends of today are geared towards acceptance of the previously unacceptable; as man indulges in the cravings of the flesh rather than cling to the spiritual side of man encouraged in God's Word. Tolerance is ushering in acceptance!
The church, in many Western nations, is drifting away from holiness demanded in God's Word (Hebrews 12:14) and walking hand in hand with the world. The younger generation no longer receive the truths of yesteryear, and tune in with the worldly culture of today.
The old saints of God who once promulgated the Word of God to its fullness; for the most part have gone to on their reward, with few replacements. There is an avalanche of newcomers who do not possess the same concept of holiness, sanctification, or righteous that was so much part of the earlier church.
Sometime prior to his death, General Booth of the Salvation Army uttered this significant prophecy: I consider that the chief dangers that confront the coming century will be Religion without the Holy Ghost; Christianity without Christ; Forgiveness without regeneration; Morality without God; and Heaven without Hell. The fulfillment of this prophecy is coming very much alive in the trends of today!
The prophet Isaiah cried out: Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him (Isaiah 5:20-23).
Such a state had not gone unnoticed by God; for Isaiah, in speaking the words of the Lord, said: Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, because they have cast away the law of the Lord; and despised the Word of the Holy One (Isaiah 5:24).
The trends of today fall into the same categories Isaiah spoke of (if not more so)! There is an onrush of activity that is making evil appear as good and good evil; with many doing what is right in their own sight.
The devilment of mankind is being influenced, and nourished, through that great deceiver, Satan, who began his deceptive work in the Garden of Eden through the serpent (Genesis 3:1).
Such is ongoing today; with part of Satan's tools being the electronics of our day, which are far reaching. Such is readily available at one's fingertip; especially in many Western nations, who have easy access.
The inroad to immorality has been through television, the film industry, the internet, and is being nourished by such means. The trends of today capture the attention of many who have had no Biblical or moral upbringing or have departed from its influence.
The apostle John wrote: It is the last hour: and as you have heard that the antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour (1 John 2:18).
John was reminding the believers of the constant threat posed by evil to believers. Yet they need not fear; only to be diligent and not slack in their demeanor. There were false teachers and deceivers who would be the Antichrist's forerunners paving the way for his ultimately coming on the scene.
We are seeing individuals who are attempting to deceive the people into acceptance of ungodly ways; introducing worldliness into the church, rather than upholding the Word of God.
The apostle John revealed that a hostile person, or power, would come in the last days bringing an attack against God's people (1 John 2:18). We are seeing forces at work to undermine the Word of God; to discredit or hinder one from living a Christian life, with hostility towards any individual who desires to do so.
The apostle John noted: He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son. If there comes any to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed. For he that bids him Godspeed shares in his evil deeds (2 John 1:9-11).
There are many who fall into such a category; are welcomed into the limelight, despite their ungodly lifestyles, which has become acceptable by many. There are trends of today that would never have been afforded acceptance in previous years!
The apostle Paul wrote: Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what agreement has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? For you are the temple of the living God; as God as said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be you separate saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (2 Corinthians 6:14-17). The trends of today does not encourage one to be separate from ungodly influences, rather to embrace the ungodly cultures of our day.
Scripture gives an admonishment to the believer in Christ: But you, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost (or that of God's Spirit), keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life (Jude 1:20-21).
Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory, with exceeding joy. To the only wise God, our Savior, be glory and dominion, and power, both now and forever (Jude 1:24-25).
Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2). One is to resist being poured into the traits of today: present day thinking, ungodly value systems, and conduct of this world!
