Vehicle for God's use is one which can be utilized as an instrument of conveyance of His Word; not merely as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1), but of real value to a world in need of reconciliation to God.

Twenty years ago I wrote a letter of concern to an official in the denomination I am affiliated with.  I was concerned about the church's withdrawal from its previous standards.  I felt it was not a good thing and would be detrimental, if continued.  I have kept his answer and will share a portion of its contents with you.  (Comment)

The church official wrote:  These are the last days.  What dispensation category we are in is not of much importance to me as the fact of the indifference of so many in the church towards the Lord's return.  God's Word cautions us "to be ready" for in such an hour as you think not, the Son of man comes (Matthew 24:44).

Like all denominations our Church is only a vehicle for God's business in the world.  My faith is not in the denomination but in the Head of the Church - Jesus Christ.  Only He is Eternal and Faithful.  People fail.  Denomination structures decay.  Programs and emphases shift to more current trends.  Only the Savior is the same.

One definition of the term vehicle is a medium for expression or achievement of something.  Many great men of God have been of extreme importance in the continuation of the Kingdom of God and had significant impact as vehicles for God's use.

Our world is hurting; undernourished in the most important ingredient to sustain life; the need of a Savior.  It is being torn apart through corruption, greed, and disregard for the needs of others.  It is suffering because its source of help (Jesus Christ) is being banished by many as a source of help.

War, and terrorist,  is in many lands and survival is a daily concern for many.  There is uncertainty of the future; and for some, if tomorrow will even come!  Jesus spoke of a time upon the earth when there would be distress of nations with perplexity; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth (Luke 21:25-26).

Take heed to yourselves lest at any time your heart be weighed down with carousing, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come upon you unawares.  For as a snare shall it come, on all them that dwell on the face of the earth (Luke 21:34).

A spirit of rebellion, against God, is being manifested that will only lead to destruction.  Immoral attitudes need to be reckoned with; the flaunting of God with attempts to eliminate any reference to Him; and the continuation of ungodliness flourishing in the land, rather than being dealt with, is being patronized.

God's Word is unchangeable; though man may attempt to suit his own fancy and lifestyle, completely ignoring the fact it is condemned in God's Word.  There is a need to cast out the evilness in the land and allow the righteousness of God to shine forth.  Rather than attempting to remove any reference to God, or His Son, there is the need to reinstate His eternal love that excels all else; to reestablish the light of the world (John 3:19), to usher out the darkness that is prevailing.

Being a vehicle for God's use requires the believer to completely yield one's life over to the Lord; to be sanctified (or set apart unto God), and useful for the master's use.  To follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, out of a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:21-22).

Follow means to pursue with intensity; righteousness are those things which are consistent with the character of God.  Faith is belief in God's Word.  Charity is a love given regardless of rather the recipient is worthy or not.

Scripture admonishes the believer to present their body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:1-2).

Many are in dire need of another Great Awakening; a commitment to God of heaven and earth, and a Savior, Jesus Christ!  There is a need for a vehicle for God's use; someone to stand in the gap for the land (Ezekiel 22:30), who is unafraid to announce "What Thus Saith the Lord!"  The fulfillment of the below scripture is very much in need today:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

While this promise was originally given to King Solomon regarding the people of Israel, it is applicable to all who will call on the Lord in repentance and faith.  This verse is an expression of God's loving readiness to hear the prayers of a repentant people.
