WITHDRAWAL FROM GOD

By Roy Burner - Minister of the Gospel

INTRODUCTION

Withdrawal from God is a retraction of a previously held position.  It is a retreat and abandonment of previously gained ground.  A recent poll in England indicated that more than half of that country are no longer believers; among the 18 to 24 category it is 71%.  A mighty rival spirit once flourished in England; along with many other countries, who were at one time receptive towards receiving the Word of God!

God mightily blessed these countries!  When troublesome times came they looked to God as the source of their deliverance; and were delivered!  They bathed in His blessings being showered upon them.  Where are those blessings now?  How much have those countries departed from their former greatness in God; and what have they replaced God with?  Is it because the influx of ungodliness has become overwhelmingly accepted?  (Comment)

WITHDRAWAL FROM GOD

Withdrawal from God in America has been obvious.  Legalizing abortion on demand; taking prayer out of our public schools; allowing homosexuality to openly be flaunted in the land; legalizing same-sex marriage, and a transgender movement that scoffs the ideal of a God-given gender identity.

Withdrawal from God has opened the door for the immorality that has sweep across this nation; with common decency becoming a mockery; and ungodly lifestyles promoted.

Sex is openly displayed; with the revealing of the flesh for all to see.  The internet, television, movies, social media, and many other sources, openly flaunt nudity.  Foul language has become a norm with the vilest words being utilized.  Many have become addicted to pornography; alcohol, drugs, etc., seeking gratification of the vilest nature.

ABSENT OF GREAT
SPIRITUAL REVIVALS

America, and elsewhere, are absent of great spiritual revivals in the land; which previously brought many to God, rather than seeing a withdrawal from God.  Godly men, anointed by God, use to bring such revivals have now passed on; with seemingly no replacements of the same magnitude.

A possible explanation is given in this prophecy in 1965:

When I visit My people in mighty revival power, it is to prepare them for the darkness ahead.  With the glory shall come great darkness, for the glory is to prepare My people for the darkness, I will enable My people to go though because of the visitation of My Spirit.

In the last days shall come seducing spirits that shall turn many of My anointed ones away.  Many shall fall through divers lusts and because of sin abounding.  But if you will seek Me diligently, I will put My spirit within you.  When one shall turn to the right hand or the left you shall not turn with them, but keep your eyes wholly on the Lord.  After I have visited My people, the way shall become more and more narrow, and fewer shall walk therein.  But be not deceived, the ways of righteousness are My ways.

For though Satan becomes as an angel of light hearken not to him; for those who perform miracles and speak not righteousness are not of Me. I warn you with great intensity that I am going to judge My house and have a church without spot or wrinkle when I come.  I desire to open your eyes and give you spiritual understanding, that you may not be deceived but may walk with uprightness of heart toward Me, loving righteousness and hating every evil way.

CONSEQUENCES OF WITHDRAWAL

The Lord revealed to King Solomon:  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14):

But if you turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; then will I pluck you up by the roots out of my land which I have given you; and will cast you out of my sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all nations (2 Chronicles 7:15-20).

While this promise was originally given to King Solomon regarding the people of Israel, it is certainly applicable to all who will call on the Lord in repentance and faith.  These verses express God's willingness to hear the prayers of a repentant people; but also gives the fate of those who fail to repent.

GOD IS LONGSUFFERING

Scripture reveals:  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:15-18).

These verses do not speak of withdrawal from God but a commitment to Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior!  There is a loving Father, and His Son, and our Savior, who eagerly await one's embrace (Revelation 3:20).
