TRUTH
INTRODUCTION
Connection to the truth is difficult in an age of deception
that promotes the telling of a lie rather than the truth; with just enough truth intermixed to make it believable! We shallow whole-heartedly any lie that flatters us
but reluctant towards receiving any truth we find harsh (Denis Diderot).
We live in a society that is motivated by the concept of a lie and finding great difficulty to unleash the truth. A society based on a lie will not prosper because truth in the end will prevail! Jesus said: If you continue (abide) in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-32).
Connection to the Truth
Operating on a Lie
God’s Word is infallible and places those who lie in the classification of the doomed; unless repentance comes into focus prior to Judgment Day. Apostle John wrote: The fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers (sexually immoral), and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (description of Hell) (Revelation 21:8).
It is a sad state of affairs when any nation operates on a lie; deceiving its people into conformity, and allowing such to be the foundational structure of the nation; with the power elite seeking to maintain control with freedom being stamped out!
Endorsing a Lie
It was noted that if truth is not promulgated, error will be; if the power of the Gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end (Daniel Webster).
We are seeing lands formerly dedicated to God now openly endorsing a lie that promotes ungodliness as healthy, desirable, and acceptable; a lie that is bringing chaos, destruction, and ruin to nations formerly blessed of God!
Evil will Abound
It was noted that where there is no fear of God, no reverence for God, every evil can and will abound. The idea that we humans will be good without God is a deceptive fallacy. When people are devoid of the knowledge and wisdom that come from believing God and having reverence for Him, they become morally corrupt, exceedingly evil, violent and destructive.
We are seeing such manifested on a daily basis with God, with the Lord Jesus Christ, being left out. Man is seeking to obtain salvation without the benefit of a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul wrote: Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Morally Corrupt
It was noted that if the fires of freedom and civil liberties burn low in other lands, they must be made brighter in our own. If in other lands, the press and books and literature of all kinds are censored, we must redouble our effort here to keep them free. If in other lands the eternal truths of the past are threatened by intolerance, we must provide a safe place for their continuation (Franklin D. Roosevelt).
One may feel comfortable, safe and secure, from such happening, but it happens gradually without notice; as allowance is made towards acceptance with measured steps towards advancement.
Lack of Freedom
Lack of freedom is rising through Socialism, Marxism, the cousins of Communism; Critical Race Theory (CRT), the Great Reset Plan instituted by the World Economic Forum; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Transformation; to name but a few, that would result in connection to the truth not being realized. Included in this spin-off of evil is a drive to maintain legalized abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriage, and transgenderism as a way of life, though condemned in God’s Word!
Goals include: Discredit family as an institution; control of the schools to use as tools for promoting ungodly agenda; eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them violation of free speech and free press; break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography in books, magazines, motion pictures, and TV. Infiltrate the press, gain control of key positions in government, radio, TV, and motion pictures; infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion.
Promotion of Ungodly
Agenda Identified
Connection is often through a person who is influential stepping in to promote ungodly agenda that otherwise would not bear fruition; likewise promoted by the mainstream and social media who place their desired slant on any issue presented.
Connection to the truth is placed in the background; buried in the sea of forgetfulness, as the lie becomes acceptable. The lie is further promoted towards acceptance by those who have been appointed, or elected, into positions of authority; who along with their assigned duties promote the ungodliness they are affiliated with.
Induction and Acceptance
Secular Traits
The church world; in many cases, has allowed pollution from within through allowing worldly and secular traits to filter into the church. It was noted that we are living in a very permissive day when the religious world is so tolerant to most any and all kinds of standards and lifestyles.
This permissiveness and tolerance is the result of a self-willed and carnal minded society. As a result of such tolerance and permissiveness, there are many churches, and even denominations, which have altered their teachings, their standards, and even their interpretations of the Scriptures to please, to comply with and accommodate this permissive and tolerant society.
Will Not Endure Sound
Doctrine
The Apostle Paul revealed: The time will come (which we are presently in) when they (the people) will not endure sound doctrine (connection to the truth); but after their own lusts (desires) they shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears (hearing) from the truth, and shall be turned into fables (that which is fictitious) (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
Apostle Paul then issued a charge to Timothy and future generations: Preach the word; be instant (ready) in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine (connection to the truth) (2 Timothy 4:2). Watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry (2 Timothy 4:5).
Preaching of the Word
In the First Great Awakening, Charles G. Finney noted that preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours to a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it.
If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact; but let us lay it to heart, and awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation.
Result of Preaching
Righteousness
A famous 19th century French statesman, and historian, traveled to America to discover the reasons for its incredible success. He wrote: I sought for the key to the greatness in her harbors; in her fertile fields and commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning. I sought for it in her democratic congress and in her matchless Constitution. Not until I went into the churches and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power.
It is unfortunate that we now see such lacking in America, and other nations, as secular traits become acceptable in the church; social religion a norm, connection to the truth distanced; with those standing for righteousness, slowly dying out, and their replacements not of the same caliber!
Abomination to God
Scripture reveals: These six things does the Lord hate (reject from His fellowship); seven are an abomination to him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift to running to mischief (evil), a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).
Connection to the truth will prevent one from falling into these categories; again the words of Jesus: You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). Fellowship with Jesus as Lord and Savior will certainly change the nature of individuals towards the truthfulness of God's Word and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Becoming an Enemy for
Telling the Truth
The Apostle Paul revealed: I become your enemy because I tell you the truth (Galatians 4:16). It was noted that this verse contrasts the Galatians previous and current attitudes towards Paul; who use to esteem him highly, but then turned their affections from Paul. They regard him as an opponent because he spoke the truth concerning the gospel, pointed out their erroneous ways and no longer having connection to the truth as previously presented.
When one stands for the truth of God’s Unadulterated (Pure) Word it will expose one to criticism by those who do not want to hear the truth. However, it is a stand that is urgently needed as misconceptions of God’s Word are promulgated towards appeasement of the flesh, as more gratifying than adherence to God’s Word!
God's Beckoning
Call
Scripture reveals: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Connection to the truth will lead a nation, or individual, to such a direction; failure to do so, invites the wrath of God. Apostle Paul wrote: The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold (suppress) the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18).
