Holy Ghost and power is not being sought after as in the great Holy Ghost revivals in the past; with spiritual awakenings taking place. God's Word reveals that the Holy Ghost (or God's Spirit) will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:8).
The Holy Ghost is the third person of the Trinity (or Godhead); equal with the Father and the Son in essence, separate in person, and submissive in duties.
Sometime prior to his death, General Booth of the Salvation Army, uttered this significant prophecy: "I consider the chief dangers that confront the coming century will be Religion without the Holy Ghost; Christianity without Christ; Forgiveness without Regeneration; Morality without God; and Heaven without Hell."
Holy Ghost and power were introduced at the birth of Christ. An angel announced to Mary, the mother of Jesus, saying: "The Holy Ghost shall come upon you, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow you: therefore also that holy one which shall be born of you shall be called the Son of God" (Luke 1:35).
One of the most historic fundamentals of faith is the virgin birth of Jesus in the womb of Mary without the seed of a man. By means of this Virgin Birth, Jesus had the human nature of His mother and the sinless divine nature of His heavenly Father.
This was extremely important for one who knew no sin; as a sacrificial lamb, without blemish, to shed His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary, to wash away the sins of the whole world. Scripture reveals that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).
Jesus conquered death; by being resurrected from the grave on the third day after His death on the cross, and just prior to His ascension to be with His Father in heaven, said: "You shall receive power, when the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).
This Great Commission still applies today (Matthew 28:18-20). Holy Ghost and Power is still available to the believer; to empower one to witness for Christ towards the saving of the soul of man!
Holy Ghost and power took place on the day of Pentecost. Scripture reveals that when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord (or purpose) in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing and mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
The apostle Peter said: "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; "It shall come to pass in the last day, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh" (Acts 2:16-17). Peter also proclaimed: "The promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:39).
The power of the Holy Ghost is just as real today to the believer! There is a dire need for the empowerment of the Holy Ghost to see a revival of change take place! Many once godly nations have turned their back on God by allowing ungodliness to reign with no remorse or desire for a change. These are nations that once enjoyed the outpouring of Holy Ghost and power but have now turned their back on such a need.
We are seeing an hour of darkness prevailing in these once godly nations; with little recognition towards the required righteousness of God. This darkness will prevail, and continue to spread like a cancerous growth, unless dealt with through the power of the Holy Ghost and the anointed Word of God, as on the Day of Pentecost, when about three thousand souls were saved (Acts 2:41)! There are some inroads being laid towards opening the door for such a happening but far too few! (More details in Audio Podcast)
