HOLY GHOST AND POWER
INTRODUCTION
Holy Ghost and power (that of God's Spirit) outpouring results in great spiritual revival and awakenings taking place! Jesus said: When he (God's Spirit) is come, he will reprove (convict) the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more; of judgment, because the prince (ruler) of this world is judged (John 16:8-11).
It was noted that the Holy Ghost is the third person of the Trinity (Godhead); equal with the Father and the Son in essence, separate in person, and submissive in duties. When the Holy Ghost came at Pentecost many who had no prior conviction of sin were convicted by the Holy Ghost, which led to their salvation.

Coming Century
Sometime prior to his death, General Booth of the Salvation Army, uttered this significant prophecy: I consider the chief dangers that confront the coming century will be Religion without the Holy Ghost; Christianity without Christ; Forgiveness without Regeneration; Morality without God; and Heaven without Hell.
It was reported that if God were to take the Holy Ghost away from the church today, 95 percent of what we are doing would continue and no one would know the difference. If God had taken away the Holy Ghost from the early church, 95 percent of what they were doing would have ceased and everybody would have known the difference!
Physical Birth
Without the Seed of Man
Holy Ghost and power were prevalent at the birth of Christ. Apostle Luke revealed: An angel announced to Mary, the mother of Jesus, saying: You shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus (Luke 1:31). Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know no man (am a virgin)?
And the angel said to her, the Holy Ghost shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest (Most High) shall overshadow you: therefore also that holy thing (one) which shall be born of you shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:34-35). It was noted that one of the most historic fundamentals of faith is the virgin birth of Jesus in the womb of Mary without the seed of a man! By means of this Virgin Birth, Jesus had the human nature of His mother and the sinless divine nature of His heavenly Father.
It was extremely important for that one, who knew no sin, would be the sacrificial lamb, without blemish, to shed His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary, to wash away the sins of the whole world. Apostle John wrote: If we walk in the light, as he (God) is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanse us from all sin (1 John 1:7)!
Power to Witness
Jesus who conquered death; being resurrected from the grave on the third day, said: You shall receive power, after (when) the Holy Ghost (God's Spirit) is come upon you; and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).
What is termed the Great Commission still applies today! Jesus said: Go you therefore, and teach (make disciples of) all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), and of the Holy Ghost (that of God's Spirit).
Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world (Matthew 28:19-20). Holy Ghost and Power is still available to the believer; to empower one to witness for Christ towards the saving of souls!
Day of Pentecost
Holy Ghost and power took place on the day of Pentecost. Scripture reveals: When the Day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord (purpose of mind) in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared to them cloven (divided) tongues like as of fire, and it (the Spirit of God), sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
In reference to what was happening Apostle Peter said: This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams (Acts 2:16-17). For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off (you and I), even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39).
Just as Real Today
The power of the Holy Ghost is just as real today to the believer in Christ! There is a dire need to seek the Holy Ghost and power (that of God's Spirit) once again; for a revival of change to take place! Many nations have turned their back on God by allowing ungodliness to reign with no remorse or desire for change. Nations that once enjoyed the outpouring of the Holy Ghost and power no longer seek the attentiveness of such.
We are seeing an hour of darkness (the sinfulness of man) prevailing; with little regard towards the righteousness of God! This darkness will prevail, and continue to spread like a cancerous growth, unless dealt with through the power of the Holy Ghost, and the anointed Word of God, as on the Day of Pentecost!
Pattern Set for New
Believers
Scripture reveals: Then they that gladly received his (the Holy Ghost anointed preaching of Peter) word were baptized: and the same day were added unto them (the church) about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread (communion), and in prayers (Acts 2:41-42)!
It was noted that the pattern set here for new believers is normative throughout this age; to publicly profess Holy Ghost and power by faith through baptism and joining in fellowship, edification, and service within the assembly of God's people.
Let us pray for Holy Ghost and Power in the land, in our churches, in individuals, to facilitate hearts and lives to serve the Lord in gratitude and love for what He done for us. Allow the Father, His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of God to be a part of one's being; that one may be fruitful in serving the Lord!
