INVENTORS OF EVIL THINGS

By Roy Burner - Minister of the Gospel

INTRODUCTION

Inventors of evil things are originators of wicked, immoral, and sinful lifestyles in direct opposition to God's Word.  There is a flotation of such that normally would not survive in a godly society.  Many once godly nations have allowed such to surface and stay afloat rather than deal with them.  (Comment)

Inventors of Evil Things - Little Foxes

Noah H. Mack, in a sermon titled "Little Foxes" noted:  Those who have been responsible for the housekeeping has not been watchful enough and let the little foxes creep into the vineyard and now they are so numerous that they cannot be driven out by ordinary methods of teaching and warning, for they well-nigh have possession of the vineyard.

Those words were proclaimed in the 30's; how much more are we seeing an allowance being afforded towards the same with devastating results?  Inventors of evil things are coming into focus and bringing havoc in a gigantic way.  It is like the Titanic racing towards destruction despite warnings of possible danger!

Traits of Today

Many will be filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness: full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness.   Backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things (Romans 1:29-30).

We are seeing those traits today!  Backbiters are those who publicly defame the character of individuals in an attempt to tarnish their good name and reputation.  Haters of God are workers of iniquity; deniers of the providence of God, showing themselves to be enemies to Him by their evil works.  God delivered such over to the natural result of their unbelief and action (Romans 1:24).

Evil Tolerated Poisons Whole System

One man noted:  Evil unchecked grows and evil tolerated poisons the whole system (Author Unknown).   We are seeing such today because of a society that demands tolerance and acceptability rather than righteousness.

Inventors of evil things are poisoning the minds of the youth at an early age.  Glorification of ungodly lifestyles, which are condemned in God's Word, had been allowed into the public school system; and educational process.

Evilness of Mankind

There is no faithfulness (or uprightness) in their mouth; their inward part is destruction; their throat is an open tomb; they flatter with their tongue (Psalm 5:9).  Let not a evil speaker be established in the earth (Psalm 140:11).

The characteristics of evil is identified as morally objectionable behavior; that which causes harm or destruction; evil influences or deeds; evil speaking toward others, abomination, immoral, and obscene.  We are seeing acceptance of such traits of evil with many not realizing the implications for having done so.

Held Captive

There are those who being held captive by the things of this world; identified as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 1:16).  We now have easy access to such through the Internet; that opens the door towards what one allows themselves to be entertained with.

The Lord in speaking to the prophet Ezekiel asked:  Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery?  For they say, The Lord see us not (Ezekiel 8:12).

Scripture reveals that the Lord looks from heaven; he beholds all the inhabitants of the earth.  He considers all their works (Psalm 33:14-15).  The pathway of righteousness is revealed through God's Word but unrighteousness knocks at the door as well.  Some in Ezekiel's day knew the right way; but chose to follow another, even in God's house (Ezekiel 8:15-17)!

A Return to God

Inventor of evil things; originators of wicked, immoral, and sinful lifestyles, are prevailing in our society today.  It is unfortunate that they have been allowed to make their presence in once godly nations!

There is a drastic need for a return to God; 2 Chronicles 7:14 reveals:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

While this promise was originally given to King Solomon regarding the people of Israel, it is applicable to all who will call on the Lord in repentance and faith!  The rejection of such was also noted:

But if you turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; then will I pluck you up by the roots out of my land which I have given you (2 Chronicles 7:19-20).

Inventors of evil things need to come to a realization that God is not mocked:  for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7).
