TO MARCH IN CADENCE

March-in-Cadence

INTRODUCTION

To march in cadence (step), in a biblical context, refers to the spiritual rhythm, flow, or pattern of a life lived in alignment with God; it represents a consistent, disciplined routine of faith, contrasted with chaotic and erratic living.

To march in cadence, in other aspects of life, is to do so in uniform time, with others, being resolute in purpose and willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to accomplish a particular goal.  We are witnessing this worldwide with a fortitude that brings large numbers out, to march in cadence, to protest what is considered an injustice. Many such movements are justifiable with peaceful intentions while others are disruptive in nature towards what is perceived as honorable yet are deceptive in nature as to their real purpose.

TO MARCH IN CADENCE
FUTURE INVADING ARMY

The Prophet Joel foretold of those who shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war, and they shall march everyone in his ways, and shall not break their ranks (Joel 2:7). It was noted that this Scripture warned of a future invading army that would swept the land; a magnitude that could not be controlled without God’s intervention.  They shall run; like men of war, in a hostile way, walls cannot keep them out, all places are accessible to them, they shall go forth in bands, as that of military discipline.

We are witnessing an advancement of ungodliness attempting to control in a dominating way.  There is an invasion of the ungodly as revealed in the pre-Flood days of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Babylon the whole of every foul spirit, with godly ways becoming almost non-existent in such an environment.

We are living in a climate of national disunity; due to those who march in cadence (step) towards the fostering of ungodliness to wrap its long-reaching tentacles against any form of godliness.  There is an attempt to squeeze the life out of any godly virtue and its continued existence. This advance has invaded places that previously were not accessible; in an attempt to wrap the minds of the most vulnerable, the youth of the land.

House Left Desolate

Jesus said: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them which are sent to you; how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her children under her wings, and you would not. Behold, your house is left to you desolate (Matthew 23:37-38).

It was noted that the generation in which those words were uttered represented the climax of its sinful history by those who rejected the provisions of God.  There is now a similar to march in cadence effort, due to rejection of godly values, turning to secularism, and other means, rather than to God.

A Destructive Nature

Scripture reveals of time to march in cadence, in a destructive way, is allowed by God.  Scripture reveals that the Prophet Habakkuk, in speaking the words of the Lord, said: I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty (impetuous) nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling places that are not theirs (Habakkuk 1:6).

God allowed a powerful and warlike people to invade the land that was once under the umbrella of His protection; marching boldly and opposing all opposition in their way. He allowed the Chaldeans to be vessels towards His judgment upon the land; as He even may allow havoc, destruction, and calamity upon those nations which have forsaken Him.

A Coming Out

The-Endangerment-of-Humanity

Apostle John noted that in the case of Babylon there was a call for God’s people to come out of her, John wrote: I heard another voice from heaven, saying, come out of her, my people, that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues; for her sins have reached unto heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities (Revelation 18:4-5).

Believers were called upon not to march in cadence with the sinful nature of Babylon or else they would share in her plagues; it is unfortunate that many believers have allowed themselves to be caught in the web of deceit that is ushering in acceptance of ungodly ways.

Ungodly Persuasion

Scripture reveals: Draw nigh (near) to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you doubleminded (James 4:8).  It was noted that the cleansing of one’s life involves both inner thoughts and outward deeds; which begins in the heart with a resolve to walk in accordance with God’s Word.

Apostle Paul wrote: Come out from among them, and be you separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (2 Corinthians 6:17).  This is a clear command that the believer is not to march in cadence with the ungodly persuasion of our day; but rather separate from its influence.

A Target

We are witnessing an attempt to dominate the land with actions that are in direct opposition to God’s Word.  It is unfortunate that many, even believers, have allowed tolerance and acceptability to pay unto focus; rather than be in opposition to the evils of our day.

Apostle Paul wrote: Professing themselves to be wise, they become fools (Romans 1:22); wherefore God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves (Romans 1:24).  Is God allowing nations, who have allowed ungodliness to manifest itself, to pursue their own destiny?

A Puppet

The term march is defined as moving along steadily in step with others.  To march in cadence is to not get out of step but steadfastly moving in unison with others.  Oftentimes one gets caught up in a movement because to do so is popular; no matter its origin or creditability.

In such a setting one’s strings are pulled, as a puppet, to control one’s movements, to the glee of the puppeteer.  Apostle Paul wrote: Know you not, that to whom you yield (present) yourselves to obey, his servants (slaves) you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness (Romans 6:16).

To march in cadence often is towards the ungodliness of man that has captured the attention of many; with little effort to rid oneself from its clutches, because one does not see its destruction path or have a desire to do so.  Scripture reveals: There is a way which seems right to a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12).  The way which seems right may not be the best or righteous way.

Result of Disobedience

Can God bless a people, or nation, that is not in obedience to His Word? Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land because of one act of disobedience (Deuteronomy 32:51-52); God could no longer bless Israel, because of one man’s act of disobedience (Joshua 7:1), but after the sin was dealt with God’s blessings flowed once again.

There are nations who have allowed ungodliness to be promoted with consumption taking place; sometimes because there are individuals who cannot speak out due to being partakers themselves. Apostle Paul wrote: You who teach another, teach not yourselves? You who preach a man should not steal, do you steal (Romans 2:21)?

Repentance Recogized

A man of God was asked: If given an hour to explain the Gospel to someone, how would he do so?  He said he would spend the first fifty minutes on the bad news of judgment and then the last ten minutes on the good news of salvation, because without the context of judgment one would not appreciate or even understand salvation.

God conveyed to King Solomon: If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).  Heart-felt repentance was necessary to march in cadence with God’s Word.

It was noted that while this promise was originally regarding the people of Israel, it is applicable to all who will call on the Lord in repentance and faith.  It is a high expression of God's readiness to hear the prayers of a repentant people or individual.

Heaven or Hell

Scripture reveals: God so loved the world (you and I), that he gave his only begotten Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), that whosoever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God’s desire is to deliver one from the eternal grips of a place called Hell, into the threshold of Heaven.

Apostle John wrote: He that believes on the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) has everlasting life; and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides (remains) on Him (John 3:36).
