Permissive society of today warrants a day in court in regards to its allowing ungodliness to flourish in the land. This permissiveness and tolerance is encouraged by a self-willed and carnal minded society. There is little censorship today as man allows his vilest nature to be unleashed.
There are many Western churches who have changed their once held God-given convictions to accommodate the permissiveness of a self-willed society. There are far to few voices crying out against this change of direction!
The prophet Jeremiah cried out to those of His day: Wash your heart from wickedness, that you my be saved. How long shall your offensive thoughts lodge with you (Jeremiah 4:14)?
Today, there is an absorbing; like a sponge, that arises from many ungodly sources. There are immoral movies; television programming, internet sites, and social media filled with profanity, vulgarity and nudity. The ungodly have instituted their own ideal of entertainment which far surpasses any form of decency.
There are many whose conscience have been seared towards acceptance rather than rejection (1 Timothy 4:2). This has helped rob America, and other once godly nations, of the morals of their Christian heritage.
A Sunday school commentary noted: Careless surfing of the internet; listening to malicious talk; ignoring the Word of God; giving into a materialistic worldview helps promote offensive thoughts within one's mind. Will we allow the sanctifying Scriptures and the purifying blood of Christ to cleanse our heart and mind; or will we persist in sin-filled thinking and experience God's judgment?
God's Word needs to be promulgated to a greater degree in the permissive society of today. It needs to be shouted from the roof top; openly proclaimed! We are living in devious times in which man is pursuing a course that is contrary to the will of God!
Man is allowing the appeal of the flesh; to override the righteousness of God. Because of laxity in many Western churches to preach the Unadulterated (or Pure) Word of God many churches have become worldly-minded rather than stand true to God's Word.
There is a new generations of believers that no longer purse the godly stand of past generations. There is now a gospel of appeasement being preached which precludes the convicting power of God's Word to prevail.
Daniel Webster proclaimed: If truth is not forthcoming, error will be; if the power of the gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end.
Pleasure without conscience is a failure of society to promulgate the fate of such. If allowed to continue, how far will man elevate himself towards God's wrath?
Scripture tells us that God's wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteous of men (Romans 1:18). The prophet Isaiah cried out: Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:2).
The permissive society of today will not bring one into harmony with God; but will draw one further from Him. In America, we are seeing ungodly deeds unfold: A door has been opened for same sex marriage in defiance of God's Word; acceptance of homosexuality which is condemned in God's Word (Romans 1:26-27); and a door opened for one to even question their own God-given gender; attempting to alter what God has created.
Our youth's minds are being polluted by allowing ungodly agenda to become the norm. It will take a wholehearted commitment to God to restore any nation to their former stand in God. The permissive society of today will only lead to self-destruct; not that of renewal!
A Sunday school commentary noted: No nation can continue to ignore God and sin freely without suffering the consequences of that lifestyle. No matter how blessed a nation has been, if it forsakes God and fails to repent, it faces His judgment. Regardless of how much the world attempts to glamorize sin, it is still sin, and sin invites His judgment.
