The permissive society of today warrants a day in court in regards to allowing ungodliness to flourish in the land with encouragement by a self-willed and carnal minded society.
There is little censorship as man allows his vilest nature to be unleashed; with some churches changing their bylaws to accommodate the permissiveness of such a society, with only a few sounding the alarm against this change of direction!
The Prophet Jeremiah, in speaking the words of the Lord, cried out: O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain (wicked) thoughts lodge within you (Jeremiah 4:14)? Your way and your doings have procured these thing to you; this is your wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reaches into your heart (Jeremiah 4:18).
It was noted that it had to be difficult for the Jeremiah always having to be the bearer of bad news and always being rejected. He challenged their social and moral behavior. He held his ground and was not afraid to give them unpopular criticism. God's sovereign wisdom allowed Jerusalem to cause their own destiny by believing their own lies, even though repentance was continually urged by Jeremiah!
Today, there is an absorbing as a sponge what is being offered through ungodly venues. There are immoral movies; television programming, internet sites, and social media filled with profanity, vulgarity and nudity. The ungodly have instituted their own ideal of entertainment which has far surpassed any form of decency.
In a prophecy given were these words: In the last days shall come seducing spirits that shall turn many of My anointed ones away. Many shall fall through divers lusts and because of sin abounding. But if you seek Me diligently, I will put My spirit within you. When one shall turn to the right hand or the left you shall not turn with them, but keep your eyes wholly on the Lord.
After I have visited My people, the way shall become more and more narrow, and fewer shall walk therein. But be not deceived, the ways of righteousness are My ways. For though Satan becomes as an angel of light hearken not to him; for those who perform miracles and speak not righteousness are not of Me.
Apostle Paul wrote: Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing (deceiving) spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:1-2). This refers to acceptance of ungodliness, rather than rejection, which has helped rob many nations of their morals and Christian heritage.
It was noted that the careless surfing of the internet; listening to malicious talk; ignoring the Word of God; giving into a materialistic worldview helps promote offensive thoughts within one's mind. Will one allow the sanctifying Scriptures and the purifying blood of Christ to cleanse heart and mind; or will one persist in sin-filled thinking and experience God's judgment?
God's Word needs to be promulgated, and received, to a greater degree in our permissive society of today! It needs to be shouted from the roof top; openly proclaimed; for we are living in devious times in which man is pursuing a course that is contrary to the will of God!
Man has allowed the appeal of the flesh to override the righteousness of God. Because of laxity, in many nations, to preach the Unadulterated (pure) Word of God; many have become lax in standing true to God's Word!
In the permissive society of today there is a new generation of believers that no longer pursue the godly stance of past generations. There is now a gospel of appeasement being preached which no longer seeks the convicting power of God's Word and Spirit to prevail. The Apostle Paul told Timothy, a young evangelist, to preach the word; be instant (ready) in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned into fables (that which is fictitious) (2 Timothy 4:2-4). Preaching is the God-ordained means to prevent defection from the truth.
If truth is not forthcoming, error will be; if the power of the gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end (Daniel Webster).
The permissive society of today attempts to incite pleasure without conscience; in failure to promulgate the fate of such, allowing its continued growth! How far will man elevate himself towards God's wrath in allowing the permissive society of today to reign?
Scripture tells us that the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold (suppress) the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). The Prophet Isaiah cried out: Your iniquities (lawlessness) have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:2). None called for justice, nor any pleaded for truth: they trust in vanity (empty words), and speak lies; they conceive mischief (evil), and bring forth iniquity (lawlessness) (Isaiah 59:4).
The permissive society of today will not bring one into harmony with God but will draw one further from Him! We are seeing ungodly deeds unfold; with acceptance of homosexuality which is condemned in God's Word. Scripture reveals: For this cause God gave them up to vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.
And likewise the men, leaving the natural use of the women, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly (shameful), and receiving in themselves that recompense (penalty) of their error which is meet (due). And as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate (debased) mind, to do those things which are not convenient (fitting) (Romans 1:26-28).
It was noted that God lets them do what they want to do; withdrawing His gracious help. God gave them up to all forms of uncleanness (ungodliness) and its consequent actions; God gave them up to all forms of sexual depravity and its consequent actions, and God gave them over to a mind that would not retain Him in its knowledge and its consequent actions.
There are those who question their God-given gender at birth (transgender ideology); with an attempt to alter that which God created. Our youth's minds (at a tender young age) are being polluted by ungodly agenda being introduced. It will take a wholehearted commitment to God to restore nations to their former stand in God! The permissive society of today will only lead to self-destruct; not a renewal in God!
It was noted that no nation can continue to ignore God and sin freely without suffering the consequences. No matter how blessed a nation has been, if it forsakes God and fails to repent, it faces His judgment. The permissive society of today; regardless of how much it attempts to glamorize sin, it is still sin, and sin invites God's judgment!
Scripture reveals: The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). The penalty of sin is death, both spiritual and physical. Wages of sin emphasizes what one deserves, gift of God emphasizes God's unmerited favor towards the repentant in heart.
It is noted that sin will do three things in our life: It will take you where we you intended to go; it will keep you longer than you intended to stay; and it will cost you more than you intended to pay. Sin is costly business that separates people from God. However, genuine repentance brings forgiveness, restoration with God, and salvation through Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior!
